Up again at 4 am with 'The Cough That Won't Go Away' (sigh...)

Does anyone else get sick shopping at Walmart or stores like it. After about 15 minutes I get sooo tired and feel like there are weights on all my limbs and eventually am so fatigued I wonder if I will have the physical energy to get out of the building. My mind gets foggy. I dread going for any 'non Kroger' items. Why does this happen?

i think its over stimulation. too many people, too much noise and confusion with kids running around. the lights give me an awful headache. i too have to drag myself to the car. i try to stay away from big stores like that.

OMG I do the exact same thing! I don't even go anymore.
It's very strange, because I don't feel the same way at Target.

My step sister says Walmart does the same thing to her. She doesn't have any health issues, but we went into a Walmart together & she had to sit down along the way, as I shopped. So it affected her even more than it did me. She said she has a friend that it does the same thing to.

There's got to be something to this!

and I think it may be related to the lead problem. Think about it..... China has been putting too much lead in what else have they been adding lead to?

Walmart gets a lot stuff from China and I wonder how much lead is in every day things--coffee pots, toasters, I don't know about your Walmart but mine all the vacuum cleaner bags come from China.

Stores like Dollar Tree and others get alot of stuff from China too. I can't stay very long in those stores either.

***I hope this post is not offend anyone but this is just a thought I've been thinking about for awhile. and wonder if there is a link to us sickies.****

I do and so does my oldest son. It partly the over-stimulation but also all the flurecsent lights they have. We have talked about this here before. Many people feel sick and weird from flurescent lights. I think Walmart has more uncovered ones that anybody. Some people even wear sunglasses and they felt better. I have tried it and it works.

Most stores are loaded with fragrances and other chemicals and heating in the winter causes chemicals to be released from the A/C system. Some of these chemicals may be okay until they're mixed with other chemicals. Then you have a toxic brew. And most of the clothes hanging under our nose have been shipped in boxes sprayed with insecticide. I wear an odor control mask when I shop. I wonder if they'd let me shop in a hazmat suit? These chemicals are affecting everyone. Even those who don't seem to feel it.

I agree with sandyz. The lighting there is simply awful. Sunglasses can help and you could try wearing a hat (baseball cap) anything that will shield your eyes can be helpful.

The flickering bulbs cause dizziness and nausea for many of us in addition to the fatigue and heavy feeling in our bodies.

as someone already said ... too much confusion & overstimulation! I do all of my shopping at "off hours" and only for necessities. I also shop online for pretty much everything else.

I refuse to go to a walmart and I go to Target only at the times I know it's not busy. I hate the confusion.

This past week we went to Pachanga Indian casino, but I went well prepared. I brought my silicone ear plugs to cut the noise down to just a little hum. Perhaps we should all carry some ear plugs.

Just a few minutes and my legs are like cooked noodles! I can barely make it to the car with hubbies help, and by the time we get home our steps are pure torture. Strangely enough, after being home a few hours my legs feel a little better, and so does my head!

Hi.......Walmart makes me feel awful....about your cough...I saw a home remedy for coughs...instead of using meds for cough to rub Vicks vapor rub on the bottom of the feet than put on socks and go to bed like that.....and the cough will stop 100% of the time....Why don't you try it and let us know??? They say you will sleep like a baby, and who doesn't need that!

yes I dread going there. Too much noise and craziness. Employees running around aimlessly, cusomers walking around aimlessly, nody seems to have an agenda, then the kids are screaming and running around with no supervision. I am about to cry by the time I am out of there. The walk to the car feels like a long dark tunnel. I feel I will never make it. I try to never go on the weekends. I go during the week and get out of there asap.

Be careful with the Vicks, especially if you have MCS. Smelling it causes me to have headaches. The kind of headaches that feel like someone is pushing a hot poker through my temple.

I think it's the lights. I get that way in T.J. Maxx and Marshall's. Sometimes it's worse than other times. I've had to run out. Thought I was the only one.....Nice that we can share our experiences.

I think it is the gases used to pack goods. When they unpack them, and let them sit there, those gases go into the air. Rubber products especially make me ill. I can't go NEAR tire stores. Also, Fabric stores. I get a raging headache and just get plain sick.

All the lights, crowds, walking makes shopping torture for me anyway, but it's the outgassing from all the new products that makes me spacey and weak. The worst store for me are Home Depot--totally toxic.

I get that way, too. I guess it's a combination of all that has been mentioned here so far. I hardly ever go anymore, only when I absolutely have to. I always use their motorized buggies. I always leave feeling ten times worse than when I went in.

It's good to know other people's experiences! I look around when I'm in a store like Wal-Mart, and wonder if the shoppers know how blessed they are to be able to run in, grab what they need, and run out; that they can go shopping at all.

    Lord bless you all!
