I have an appt with a specialist on Wednesday for the ongoing fluttering and some pain in my ear(s)...left ear mainely.

My PCP says I have a little fluid/wax build-up and told me to take Musinex (which didn't work)..this noise in my ear wakes me up at night.

Any suggestions or am I the only one with this problem.

    Be Well All.

Does it sound like butterflies in your ear or something with wings? I have this alot. I think it comes from an eustachian tube having problems in it. Mine is really bad when I get up in the morning or when I look up or down alot. It is very annoying. If you look up eustachian tube dysfunction online it may help you. Good Luck! Laura

Sounds like butterflies. In fact, I though I had bugs in my ears! Never knew what it was or even asked a doc about it. Look forward to reading more responses.

I've had this same issue ongoing for years. Different doctors have different theories (wax build-up, skin condition on the inside of the ear, wax behind the eardrum) but I've never really got to the bottom of it, figuratively or literally.

The best I can do to relieve it, is clean my ears with an equal mixture of vinegar and water. I do this every other day with an eye-dropper. I let the solution sit for a few minutes, then I pat the area to move the liguid around inside. Repeat 2-3 times per ear.

In spite of these frequently cleanings, my ears itch a lot and for this I use a dab of lanacain.

One thing I know for sure is that with this condition (?) I'm prone to ear infections so I do need to be careful.

    God bless,

It sounds like butterflys flapping away in my ears. Been going on for close to a year.

I thought maybe it was allergies but then again with Fibro who knows whats going on.

I hope the Specialist tomorrow can come up with something because being woken up in the middle of the night with the fluttering is NOT fun :(
