hello all...I just came from the specialist who told me that the abdominal pain I have been having for months, is no other than IBS....I thought I had an ulcer for sure. I do have an esoph. hernia/ but this bothersome abdominal pain is in my lower right abdominal area, and is very constant, more in am than pm. I went to a OBGYN specialist too and checked for ovaries, have a cyst, but nothing he said. I am confused and in pain still....can anyone talk to me....thanks.

yes, I have IBS, and it started up years after the FM started. I had to get colonoscopys and all sorts of MRI and scans, but it is IBS from FM... FUN!!!!!!!!! I take digestive enzymes, and watch exactly what i put into my body... but sometimes Ill just get a flare and if I do, I have Levinsx, (I think thats how you spell it) and that takes the pain away, but makes me too tired so I cannot take it very much.... Blessings, Iggy

I think the question is: Does anyone w/ Fibro NOT have IBS? Its so common around here, you won't believe it! The pain can be intense, can't it? I too, was sent to my gyno and they found a cyst and polyps but nothing to cause the terrible pain. I also have a hiatel hernia. There is no magic thing that helps us all. Its kind of a trial and error thing. If you find that your pain stays in the exact same spot and gets a bit better after eating, I would make sure they have checked for an ulcer.

When I'm in the middle of a "flare" of IBS I stop eating anything spicy, no carbonated beverages or caffeine. I force myself to drink a ton of water and that helps too. Don't get caught up in the antacid-taking thing. They can cause more problems in the long run.

I hope you feel much better!!!!

I was diagnosed this June. It is not uncommon to have IBS and FMS. Thyrioditis is also not uncommon with FMS. I have that also.
