I am thinking about using a protein supplement, a soy protein powder, and was wondering if the phenylalanine causes any problems with lupus. Does anyone have any information on this?

Thanks -Julie (living with lupus since 1994)

Julie, I have had systemic lupus for a long time, too; however, I am not familiar with Phenylalanine, so I am unable to help you.

But I thought this would give your post a Bump back to the first page!

    Hope someone can help you.

    Hugs,
    Janet

If my memory is correct, it's the precursor to tyrosine, which speeds me up. I used to use the latter for energy & it also supports the thyroid.

But google it, and it'll tell you, or call the health food store.

I have Lupus, and have to be careful with everything, including foods.

thanks for the google idea....how about yoga - does it help your lupus? I've found that I get really sore after a yoga session.

For me, being 63, I've gone from being a big time athlete, to jogging, to racewalking, to Tai Chai, to Yoga, and now I can't do any of them without too much pain.

Only one left for me is horseback riding; just waiting for a safe one to put on my property.

But Yoga is great if you can tolerate it. And you'll know very quickly!!
