I have been wondering about getting a dog for therapy and possibly to train to do things like picking up dropped objects, etc. But, mostly as a mood lifter. My doctor and therapist have suggested it.
Well, this last week I've had the chance to puppysit for a friend and it has been great! "Jack" - a buff/apricot colored cockapoo has been wonderful for my kids and I've noticed that my pain has greatly diminished. The pup is still more work than I'm used to. I'm walking and going outside when I wouldn't before and he pulls hard on the leash when he walks, so my shoulders and neck are a little tighter, BUT overall I feel better.
What do you all think? Time for me to get a dog of my own?

From what you are saying it does sound like you should get a dog. If the pros out weigh the cons than go for it. Sounds like you feel better with a dog so that alone is worth the extra work.

I have a dog and I love her to death. She is so great and it is nice to have her keep me company all day.

    Take Care,
    Pam
