    Hope you aren't eating? LOL!

I have been asking my crappy doc about this EVERY visit.
She says that yellow or green snot is NO big deal. Everyone has yellow or green mucous. I said from my reseach I see that everything points to infection! Clear = ok Yellow = starting something here Green = infection warning!!!!
But I have it EVERYDAY in my nose and it seems to last a while until I am finished with my morning "kleenex". Then its gone. I have crusties (I know, I know, but I am trying to be accurate)most of the day. Sometimes yellow crusties in eyes too.

My question is Do I Have A Sinus Infection?

I have NO pain around my nose or eyes and no dripping down the back of throat, or any discomfort like stuffy nose or clogged head or headache or what not, and have NO sore throat and havent since this stupid illness began. I sometimes have phlegm in my throat too. And can cough up stuff but not alot or all day long. No cough...

Is this just one of those wonderful mysteries that comes part and parcel with this illness?

Is there anyone else who can identify?

Do you know what I should do?

    Anyone?

    Thank you

Lilladybug! Yes, I have had that problem too. Mine seems to be a lot less by drinking half my weight in ounces of water a day. I know, it sounds nuts (like everything else with Fibro), but it works! I used to not only have the green and yellow stuff, but the 'crunchies' and sinus pain and post nasal drip too.

I drink the water, and take a quarter teaspoon of sea salt during the day. It worked like a charm. I used to wake up choaking with the post nasal drip, if I get it now, I just drink some water and put a pinch of salt on the back of my tongue, and its gone!

Hope this helps, and you are quite a descriptive writer!!!

    Shirl,

I drink TONS of water (120 oz)and at least 200 oz of fresh juice a day! AND *YES* I LIVE IN THE BATHROOM! LOL!
CFIDS is my bag! And in the bathroom is my home!

What kind of sea salt? I take salt tabs too and over salt my food with celtic sea salt!? NMH, another joyous symptom I too share in the group! It has gotten much better....with the salt....any other ideas?

What about salt rinses in the nose? It didn't really work last time, but as we all have concurred previously on the boards...would roll in pig poop or eat dead skunk or possum to at least alleviate some of this!!! :)

Thank you so much Shirl, I have read most of your posts (know you know alot!) and have always appreciated your words, charm, wit, and disarming the gang if we need it!!!! Also thank you for your bumps when needed!

*So you are sure we can rule out a sinus infection?*

    Kindness and Peace to you!

Lilladybug (hoping to be red and bright and snot free!)

ps I am glad you think I am quite a descriptive writer!
Beautifulsimplicity and I have plans for a book!!!
    Thank you!

Hits the market, I want a first edition, and autographed!

Well, if all else fails you could try a warm mist vaporizer.

I have two, just in case one dies, I have a replacement (I live in the boonies, I buy two of everything I can afford), the closest store is 14 miles from my home.

Thats all I know hon, sure hope you figure this one out.

I don't know awhole lot, just what I do for myself, I would try dead skunk (which are plentyful around here) coon or muskrat too if I though it would help!

Let me tell you, in Louisiana, you could probably order(any of the above) it in a restaurant. Some of these Cajun's eat anything! Alligator is a delicacy too, which I would not touch with a ten foot pole, even if it was fried.

PS, Jasmine said the Celtic salt was the best! I have regular Sea Salt, but will get the Celtic as soon as I get out.

Mix a mild solution of warm sea salt water and sniff or spray it up your nose, tilting your head slightly forward. Let it sit a few minutes and blow your nose. Repeat throughout the day.

DO NOT use the OTC preparations at the store. They contain a preservative which is very harmful to the mucus membranes in the nose.

This is the single most important thing we can do to prevent sinus infections. You might consider more humidity in your home as well, since the nasal membranes seem to be very dry.

    Love, Mikie

You are so right, I tried the cool mist, and it did make things worst, its got to be warm. Like you, mine is on all night, if it turns off, I wake up with my nose stuffy. I keep an extra container of water by it, so I just stumble around and fill it again.

If my sinus are really bad, I put a pinch of sea salt in the vaporizer (the salt will make it bubble over, so put a pan under it if you want to try this!), its like sitting beside the ocean, clears your head up in a few minutes. But it does ruin the vaporizer, as it will rust the interior.

My husband tells me I need a vaporizer with stainless steel interior.

I know this sounds gross, and it is hard to do at first, but I know what you're going through and the only thing that finally "cured" it once and for all was flushing my sinuses out but good (I was told to do this by an ear/nose/throat specialist). Mix about a half-teaspoon sea salt (or any noniodized salt) in warm water. I found this works best in the shower because its so messy! Bend over at the waist and, with your mouth hanging open, literally snort the salt water in through your nose and let it run out of your mouth. For me, it worked best to block one nostril and do them both separately. It's hard at first, especially if you have a touch gag reflex (which I do), but I toughed it out and by the end of the week the crusty yellow-greens were gone. I don't have to do that very often anymore, because it really is gross! Good luck...

I used Celtic sea salt (thank you Jasmine)in the bath and did a little combo number of my own! Did tip forward then back and a little burn but I can handle it to get rid of the yuckies!
Thank you Shirl and of course we will send you and autographed copy! I promise ...you'll be delighted to see what else we have in store and planned for all of us!!! Am working on the warm mist vaporizer....is it like a humidifier? And FYI (for your information)beautifulsimplicity and I have BOTH said we would roll in pigs poop to get better.....got any pigs down there too? Shalom Shirl! You are awesome!
Mikie thank you to you too....gosh you guys are great!!!!
Seriously its so nice to be able to get on and get an answer! Takes my primary doc 10 days to call me and say "ummmmm I don't really know?" and $80 bucks down the tubes.....
Sandy you gotta love you for being a nurse and having the crusties too....and your advice!!! FREE! ;)
Stormy your good luck helped.....as I said before did the combo number snorted and sniffled it up and back into my throat (gag too...thanks for the warning)
I guess i wasn't doing it right before.... Thank you all.
Feel very supported on this and glad to know you guys care!

Turning Red! And softest of hugs!

    Lilladybug!

p.s. Am I supposed to do this every day and every night?
