Hi Everyone, I am new to the worship board. This is my 1st post but not my last. I read the prayer messages and prayed for all of you. I am just trying to find my faith, I know only God can help me, but I must let him.

I just finished reading "The Bible Cure", has anyone else read this. Dr Cherry, the author has a clinic in Houston, also wondered if anyone is familiar with it or him?

I am in seriuos need of help, please pray for me that i can let go and put myself in the hands of God. I have today and will continue to pray for all of you as well. Thank you in advance and thanks to everyone on this board for this board.

    Hugs and Prayers Cilli

I haven't read the book you mention, so am not familiar with the ideas in it.
I will pray you get the help you need & find what you are seeking, & your faith in God. I read a neat thing on Faith, it says :- Father Alone It's Too Hard. The first letter of each word spells Faith ! I thought that was a good interpretation.
    Linda.

I hadn't heard of it until you mentioned it, then I just had to check it out. It looks like it would be a good one to read. I found it on Christianbook dot com for those who are interested. Here is the info on the book:

"The Bible Cure - By: Reginald Cherry, M.D.

Description: Does ancient Scripture hold the key to modern medical mysteries? Cherry uncovers the health secrets God gave to the Israelites and discusses cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and other diseases. Discover more about God's health advice and draw closer to a loving Father who cares about all of you---body and soul! 240 pages, hardcover from Creation House."

I've heard of the theory how the Old Testament provides great teaching in health practices. These teachings are throughout scripture in the Old Testament. I just may buy the book and read it, as I find this whole idea fascinating!

Thank you, Cilli, for sharing this with us. Know, too, that my prayers are there for you.

May God lead you in His Truth and Righteousness, and may you find that peace that comes with His perfect will.

Our Father, just take Cilli in your arms right now as a struggling child in spirit, and hold Cilli tight as a parent with a child that is struggling to help ease that unsettled feeling and calm that unsettled soul. In Christ's name, AMEN!

    Love in Christ, Jeannette

in my opinion, it's more harm than good. it's the health and wealth, name it and claim it gospel. it's dangerous theology. it's out of line and way off base. don't waste your time and money.

as a chronically ill person, i found it insulting. as a pastor, i found it abhorrant.

i just read it again, and it sounds really harsh. please understand that as a christian, bad theology is one of the most frustrating things because it can be so misleading. Bad theology is worse than blatant unbelief because you think you're on the right track and being deceived the whole time.

Test anything you read or hear against the Word of God, you don't have to take my word for it.

just trying to keep us on track...

    Hi Cilli,
I agree with stagename in that you have to be careful with the things you read. You will learn discernment in time. Just because it says it's Christian does not mean that it's true or truth. There are many Christians who do not study the bible or understand what the bible says as a whole on an issue (aka theology).

I felt very condemned at times around people who felt that if you had enough faith that you'd be healed. They can be harsh and uncompassionate. They make you feel guilty and bad for being ill. I still believe God heals but I also believe that we suffer. I believe that we serve a God of faith who imparts faith into our hearts as we seek to know him. We don't tell God what to do and treat him like he is a puppet on a string. When we don't understand what is happening we need to yield to God and trust him...that is faith. "Faith message" people don't seem to have a theology of suffering and some don't seem to even know what theology is...sad but true. Many proponents of this "legalistic message" don't tend to study scripture at all but "shoot from the hip" when they preach. They think that the Spirit will just fill their mouths. This is a scary way to preach b/c the bible says many times to study to show yourself approved of God and to watch your doctrine closely.

We can look to God in faith that he may heal us but we also need to know that God doesn't always answer all of our questions. Even Jesus on the cross didn't understand and asked his Father in Heaven, "My God, My God, Why have you forsaken me?" God doesn't always answer our "why's" but he promises to be with us.

He is with you today as you search for truth. If you type in apologetics and do a search then you will find more information to help you understand some of the basic foundations of Christianity.

    Hope this helps! Monkeykat
