My doctor has been really good to me he believes about the pain with fibro and depression but when I mentioned about the brain fog and my concentration problems he said thats because of the medications you take, I said but I have read that it is caused from the fibro. He says no from the medications I need to take for depression and sleep etc. anyone else have a doctor say this? Roseylisa

    Is from FMS...
I do not take any meds nor have I for years...
Out of all my docs there was only one who agreed with the "fibro fog" being caused by the FMS...
That is the worst part of this for me, losing my cognitive abilities...The pain, fatigue and such can be overcome to some degree (mind over matter) but once I start fogging up in the day, the day is shot...
My opinion with dealing with this crap for 12 long years is this...I know what my symptoms are, I have them...If docs don't get it that's their problem...They don't want to...
I would print off a list of FMS symptoms and circle in red, COGNITIVE PROBLEMS ~ FIBRO FOG...Next time bring it to him/her...
Also, I am sure others will chime in here and you can tell him/her what the posts revealed...Fog comes from FMS or it is drug-induced...
Another example of docs not getting it is this...
I have had trouble with my eyes since this began...Light sensitivity, floaters, depth-perception, dizziness, etc...
MY PCP sent me to an eye doc to clarify...After 2 hours he ordered glasses for astygmatism, hyperbyopia, presbyopia.
I disagreed with his diagnosis and refused the $300 glasses.
It took me 5 years to find another eye doc that I had a good vybe about...A young doc that came recommended to me.
After reading my list of complaints and a full exam, he determined my eyes were in perfect health, 20/20 vision and my issues were neurological...Possibly the FMS or my neck injury...He has recently seen an influx of people with FMS/CF/Cervical injury with the same complaints...
Just another story of docs don't know everything, nor do most care to learn when it comes to our problems...
If your doc has been good otherwise, stick with him/her, just let them know that your symptoms are real, you live them everyday and please put your concerns in your chart...It may just take some more patients complaining of the same before they come around...
This is the reason I come here, to this board, I trust the people here for knowledge & advice more than any doc I have been to...I am sure others will post and you will have more to go on...Good post!

    Dear Roseylisa,
Even though my Dr. hasn't discussed my brain fog with me, if he did tell me such a thing, I would laugh at him, because I frequently have brain fog and I dont take any meds. for Fibro or CFIDS. I know that high blood pressure meds. don't give you brain fog. I think your Dr.is in denial.

    Good luck,
    Terry
    p.s.
I get brain fog with I've done too much and am extra tired. To remedy this, I drink a cup of coffee or Diet Pepsi, or eat some blueberries, and rest. T.[This Message was Edited on 12/12/2005]

Well all I can say is I am not taking any meds except ibuprofen as needed and the fog is my worst complaint. It has created so much sadness because I cannot do many of the things I used to do.I have to look at things up to 4-5 times before I can comprehend what I am looking at and what I am supposed to do with what I am looking at.I can't even grocery shop!!!!it takes me extra time usually just walking around trying to make what should be a simple decision. There are many days I get up begging to have my memory back!I will take the pain but I want my mind back the way it was.I never used to be a coffee drinker but I have found that coffee is the only thing that seems to awaken my dead head lol! and that is not completly by no means but does help me.Sometimes I wonder where these doctors get their education geezzzz!
