Wondering if anyone has seen Dr. Podell and would recommend him?
Hi Linda, I hope you are doing as well as possible today.
I think Dr Podell is wonderful. He never talks down to anyone, and never shirks a chance to help, wven if it means more work for him. He knows a lot, cares very much about his patients, is constantly doing research and attending seminars on our subjects, has an open mind, and realizes that most of the things wrong with us are related. He is NOT a specialist who only thinks of his own specialty, rather the whole body.
look for him at drpodell.org
Best of luck and health to you. Peace
I have been seeing him for awhile now in NJ where he has two offices.
I saw Dr Podell for 2 or 3 years for ME/CFS. I agree with helpeachother's comments. He was very thorough and always willing to consider my inputs and opinions. His colleague, Dr King, is good too.
In the end though, he couldn't do much for me as far as getting better. However, his help with obtaining disability was critical. I was able to get private disability insurance (Standard) and SSDI with very little trouble on the first try...did not even need to hire a lawyer. I have no other health conditions. I attribute this almost totally to Dr Podell's knowledge and help in dealing with that system.
That said, he does recommend exercise and this was a mistake for me. I think it hurt me more than deconditioning did. Maybe it helps in other phases of this illness, but it did me in. If you have ME/CFS, beware. Listen to your body over ANY doctor.
Nice guy personally, for sure.
His treatments were mostly nutritional and CBT, but he was very open to other options presented by the patient as long as you showed him some evidence that others were having success.
I decided to go with Levine in NYC due to my wanting to avoid anything to do with CBT.
Still, I don't think you can go wrong with him.
