EPA (fish oil) and anxiety

    Does anyone else here get physical symptoms of anxiety (chest tightening, racing heart, etc.) when they take fish oil with a significant amount of EPA in it? I find that I can tolerate and benefit from the DHA component of fish oil but not the EPA. This seems to be so contradictory to me since everyone is always lauding EPA's ability to treat mental illnesses like anxiety and depression. Perhaps it's just yet another one of my physiological idiosyncrasies.

    It makes me feel nauseous but you might like to try Magnesium and/or l-theanine - they both have calming effects.

    Thanks for all the advice. I take nordic naturals fish oil which I think is supposed to be pretty well tolerated by those with chemical sensitivities and trustworthy in terms of mercury filtration.

    I'm currently taking 2600 mg of evening primrose oil a day, which I do find really helpful. I think it's one of the supplements that has helped my CFS the most.
