Yesterday, after climbing 1 flight of stairs
(I know should have used elevator)
My legs started shaking uncontrolably and would
    not hold me up..............
went home and got rest.......... at 2 still no change..
    I COULD NOT WALK!!!!!!
called dr who called in RX for flexeril...... took RX
waited 2 hrs... still no progress............ and now
any muscle I tried to use just started shaking... it burned
    like fire!!!
    DH took me to ER..............
they looked at me took blood and gave me oxicodone and
SENT me home w/ no further testing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THey gave me a name and a nmbr of a neurologist that I should see ASAP................ and an RX for 12 oxicodone......... the Neurologst cant see me until 9/06!!!
I can walk today... and pain is subsided thanks to the RX...
BUT I AM SCARED TO DEATH!!!!
What if this happens again... what if my legs stop working again.............. while I am driving??????
Should I be allarmed???? is this "normal" with Fibromyalgia?? in the 8 years I have had it (as a result of radio active iodine in Feb of 1996) this has not happened to this extent... I have had weakness.......... but this was different...............
the only other "test" the dr in the er did was to ask me to do an "arm wrestle" with him.. and said that I was weak......
NI KIDDING!!!! I COULD HAVE TOLD YOU THAT!!

I fully believe that shaky legs can be connected to fibromyalgia. I often have trouble with my legs and knees. For a while, physical therapy seemed to help, but I have not found a medication that makes a difference for it.

I personally avoid stairs now as much as I can. In public places, I take the elevator whenever possible. I also keep a cane in my car that I can use on really bad days.

At home, my sons (14 & 12) run any errands involving stairs for me. The oldest even does laundry sometimes now since the washer and dryer are in the basement. They are such a blessing to me!

    Good luck,
    Kat

I am not experiencing this symptom right now but it is one I experience with Fibro. I understand being scared. Its hard not to worry about one of these bizzar symptoms happening at the wrong time (not that any flare time is good).

I have had Fibro since I was a child and have never had the mulitude of symptoms I experienced in my last bad flare. One of those symptoms being the shakey legs and the inability to walk most of the time.

I hope you start doing better soon. You should go to the neurologist to rule out anything else. Take care

to rule anything else out. It will also put your mind to ease that it's not something like MS. I was tested for different disorders. I still have leg problems to this day.

Muscles do shake when overused with this disorder. At least, that's how I react. I brought it to my muscle therapist's attention once.

They had not heard of that before and sure enough, they checked it out. The longer a muscle is overused, the longer it takes to slow down in FMS.

Hope this helps to know others also share this symptom.

Neuropathy and a Neurologist will need to do tests. There are meds to help the permanent damage that can occur if untreated.I'm not trying to scare you or say you have it I'm just saying new symptoms like this needs to be checked out because the sooner you get treatment the less severe it will get.I started out suddenly not being able to walk and legs shaking and by the time I went through several specialists my EMG test showed permanent damage.I wish I would have known the correct Dr. to begin with. There are meds if you have inflammation in the nerves to treat it.
