I have been having rib pain and migraines on and off for years but nothing like this. The last specialist I went to put me on Topomax to help with the pain and all of the weight that I have gained with the fibromyalgia. But over the last 5 or 6 weeks (can remember exactly) the rib pain is just relentless, the doctor even prescribed Tramadol to help and it does not of course. The headache/slash migraine is everyday constant. At least sometimes it is just a mild headache and not just a migraine. Thank God for small miracles. I have only been on the Topomax for 3-1/2 weeks and can tell a tad of change in my shoulder muscles, but at this point, anything is better than nothing.

Sorry I did not tell them about the unrelenting rib pain, because my regular doctor is out of town and her fill in has already done me wrong one time, and that was enough. So, it is grin and bear it until she returns.

As anyone else had this unrelenting problem with the ribs? It hurts to even breathe. I was also on Mobic but it made my skin itch, so they told me until my regular doctors appointment next week to take two Aleve twice a day until then.

    God Bless you all!!!

Lisa, I have been suffering with a new and very painful rib pain for the last 2 weeks. At first i thought it was a bladder infection that was aggravating my kidney....they pain is on my side and radiates the the front and back of my ribs....only on one side of my body....

then, i started to think it felt like when i separated my ribs years ago....hurts to breathe....hurts to move my daughter and there is no way I could transfer her into her wheelchair!

I don't remember hurting my ribs. I hope it goes away. I feel for you! having this pain for years it is really hard to move without bothering your ribs.

I hope you find some relief!

Anyone with fibromyalgia, rib pain and migraines should strongly consider that they may have these chronic infections: Borrelia burgdorferi, Bartonella and Babesia.

Many, many people here have discovered that these infections CAUSED their symptoms.

Fibromyalgia can be associated with Borrelia burgdorferi, rib pain with Bartonella and migraines with Babesia. These infections are often found together.

Fibromyalgia and other symptoms are just that...symptoms of a larger infectious picture. You must find the cause(s) in order to recover.

    Please read the following info:

symptom list on pages 9-11 of this excellent paper...and specific info about each infection is on p 22-27....

also read this booklet with basic info and great symptom list that is informative and easy to understand....

We had a garage sale and I was forced to move heavy tables and I felt that I pulled all the muscles around my ribs. I couldn't turn, it was hard to sit down, sleeping was horrible and then I went and saw my dr. She gave me Voltran (anti-inflammatory) and Soma (muscle relaxer) and within 4 days the pain was minimal.

I hope you can get the same medication and have the same results I did because at times I couldn't even breathe.

Thanks for the information....I will check out the websites and check out the information about it with my doctor when I see her next week.

I have have the rib pain and migraines on and off for ten years, but not unrelenting like this until recently. Just weird!! But then again, so are a lot of things with Fibromyalgia. We learn something new all of the time.

    God Bless!!

Just wanted to warn you that 99% of Dr's really know nothing about the infections Borrelia burgforferi, bartonella or Babesia.

That is why there are so many chronically ill people with diagnoses like FM and CFS who will never find out what CAUSED their symptoms or get proper treatment and recover. Regular Dr's only treat your symptoms with drugs to try to cover them up for the rest of your life.

It really requires a lyme literate MD to treat.

Read the info and try to get your Dr to order a western blot from Igenex lab in CA.

Call or email customer service at www.igenex.com and ask them to send you a free test kit. The Dr order form is in the test kit.

Get test #188 and #189..about $200. Send receipt to your insurance to see if they will cover it...medicare does pay for the test up front.

Have blood drawn on a Mon or Tues morning. the lab should prepare and fedex the blood to Igenex the same day.

Igenex is a tick borne specialty lab that tests for 10 IgM bands and 10 IgG bands. Other labs only test for 3 IgM bands which is poor and incomplete.

Get a copy of your test results. Even if it says "CDC negative" it does not mean you do not have Borrelia burgdorferi infection. Many people have a negative test...but you may find clues there if you have lyme specific bands show up like I did.

I would bet your Dr doesn't know any of this, so it's important to educate yourself and be your own best advocate.

I've had bouts of severe rib pain in the past and it was costrochondritis...Imflammation of the connective tissue between the ribs and where the ribs connect with the sternum. It is very painful. Ice tends to help along with an anti-imflammatory. I usually have to have a shot of Torridol (anti-imflamm) and or pain medication to get through it. I sympathize completely. Good luck and God bless!

The rib pain sounds like Costrochondritis which is common in people with FM. It is an inflammation of the rib cage.

Excuse the analogy because of lack of better words for explanation but does this feel like an extremely gigantic bear hug that will not let up and just keep squeezing?
