Eyelid Muscle Drop NOT FM...far more serious

Well, after two appts with eye specialists, I have been told I have myasthenia of the eyelids.

I was given a med to replace "lost" acetylcholine, which all muscles need to function. If it helps me, the diagnosis is confirmed.

I was told it may stay confined to the eyes, but the med should help all my muscles function better...could this be a clue to FM?

It is followed by Neurology, to which I will be referred after one more appt with Neuro-Opthalmologist, to document whether the med is working for me.

It can go systemic, affecting even the breathing muscles, so I'm hoping it helps my eyes stop closing on their own, and that's it! No more, thank you.

Another day, another diagnosis...let's see, that's about 12 now, LOL!

Gotta go, med not working yet, and eyes are closing, and darn it's not sleep!

    Hugs at ya!

Gosh, I hardly had time to close my eyes when you responded!

Wow, your dad was dx'd at age 76, then? That is amazing. I asked the dr. if even seniors (like me, 68) get such things at such an age, and she said definitely, we see it a lot.

Yes, the dr. did say to take the meds every 6 hours regularly, and that fits my noon, 6 p.m., and midnite schedule perfectly.

I do have lower back and leg weakness, and coincident with this, I have noticed a bad, "wavy" feeling that is new. Hmmmm, maybe related?

Well here's to Dad keeping on strongly and staying wide-eyed and bushy-tailed at 80+.

Thanks for the info, it helps to not be alone no matter what...

Why need this info on a med alert bracelet? Mine already has 5 things on it!

Yes, rosacea was first, now this; wonder what AI will be next?

Hi there! Thanks for the kind support!

Actually, the medicine has worked already on day one! It is really amazing, my eyes are more open and I don't feel like a rock (my eyelid) is pressing down on my eyeball already!

Sorry to say, this sort of confirms the diagnosis, but am going to check out that stearns-sayre thing mentioned above, plus myasthenia crisis...which I hope I never encounter, whatever that is!

Hope you are doing as well as...well, you know.

    Mucho huggies,
