It occurs to me that after their first 100 days in office, U.S. presidents are evaluated on how well they've done thus far. Most tend to have at least a few accomplishments to report.

On the other hand, after 100 days on the antiviral, I have no accomplishments to report. This is kind of annoying. Antiviral treatment definitely requires a big leap of faith to think it might work.

I am trying to continue the strategy of getting "aggressive rest" as well as to go out for a bit each day. I think it's helpful.

As still-herxing-on-antivirals days go, this one was fine.

I've been tired today. Part of it undoubtedly is from the increased Famvir, but I think part also is from the Chinese medicine. Hopefully it is helping to build up my system so that my tolerance for the drugs/herxing is greater in the long run.

packfan wrote on another post that at least a couple of Dr. Montoya's patients have relapsed, and so I've been thinking about that.

I think that even if I do this exactly right and get my immune system fully functional again, the possibility of a relapse will be reasonably high.

It seems obviously that I have a genetic predisposition for the disease.

Obviously I was able to go for the first 31 years of my life without getting sick, but I tend to think that was because I wasn't exposed to the causal virus (HHV-13 or whatever) at the same times that I was really stressed. On those occasions when I was exposed, probably I was able to fight it off.

Now that it's infiltrated though, I don't think there's any getting rid of it. I might be able to keep it at very low levels, but it seems pretty impossible to get rid of any herpes family viruses.

I will try to minimize stress in my life if I do get well, but I'm not sure that will be enough. Supporting the immune system as best I can seems a good idea too.

The most promising thing for this at the moment seems to be the Nexavir gel. I will be eager to see how people do on it.

Thymus (e.g. Proboost or the Atrium Douglas frozen extracts) and transfer factors also could be helpful. And maybe ViraStop too.

I don't know whether herbs or supplements would be strong enough to help, but it's worth considering. Other suggestions are welcome.

I am going to ask my doctor if he has seen his patients relapse, and see if he has any thoughts.

In the meantime, I ordered some Transfer Factor today. Since I'm now of the belief that the problem virus is one that hasn't been identified yet, I got the undifferentiated kind (4Life Transfer Factor Advanced Formula).

It cost something like $45. I see no reason to spend a lot extra to get the kind designated for EBV or HHV6 if those viruses aren't really what matter. Anyway, after it arrives, I will try a little and see if it does anything.

    Day 23-27: 500 mg
    Day 28-29: 250 mg
    Day 30-36: No drug
    Day 37-50: 250 mg
    Day 51-57: 500 mg

    Day 67-87: 500 mg
    Day 88-98: 250 mg
    Day 99-102: 500 mg

I'm doing okay today. I took the full amount of the Chinese medicine, and I think it was a good thing. I've been tired, but it's a good kind of "healing tired" that I associate with my experiment with Human Growth Hormone from several years ago.

    Famvir--Day 103-104

    Days 1-6: 250 mg
    Days 7-13: 500 mg
    Day 14: No Drug
    Day 15-20: 500 mg
    Day 21-22: No Drug
    Day 23-27: 500 mg
    Day 28-29: 250 mg
    Day 30-36: No drug
    Day 37-50: 250 mg
    Day 51-57: 500 mg
    Day 58-63: 250 mg
    Day 64-65: 500 mg
    Day 66: 250 mg
    Day 67-87: 500 mg
    Day 88-98: 250 mg
    Day 99-104: 500 mg

Saturday I took 100 mg of nattokinaise as well as the full amount prescribed of the Chinese herbs. This was the first day for the natto.

I had some feverish feelings (my usual viral die-off symptom) and was pretty tired. Not the "good tired" that I previously had with just the Chinese herbs, but it absolutely was tolerable.

The main thing that herxing on Famvir seems to be doing right now is messing up my sleep. Melatonin does the trick, though.

Today I went out to a play, and ended up spending eight hours away from home. I took my usual Famvir, but didn't add the natto or the Chinese herbs. I did okay.

I seem to be almost done with serious herxing at the 500 mg of Famvir, I think. Natto and transfer factor (which will arrive this week) should give me a bit more die-off, but I'm not sure how much.

Part of me wonders whether the reason I'm slowing down herxing is because resistant strains have developed.

The other part is keeping up the faith in Dr. Guyer's psychic abilities. He said that I would be about done with the Famvir by the end of February, and I think I'm right on schedule.

I will take some Chinese herbs before going to bed. And take another 100 mg of natto, I have decided.

    Day 15-20: 500 mg
    Day 21-22: No Drug
    Day 23-27: 500 mg
    Day 28-29: 250 mg
    Day 30-36: No drug
    Day 37-50: 250 mg
    Day 51-57: 500 mg
    Day 58-63: 250 mg

    Day 67-87: 500 mg
    Day 88-98: 250 mg
    Day 99-105: 500 mg

The mild but overt herxing continued today. Some feverish feelings, tiredness without feeling drowsy. (Drowsy tired feels better to me, more like I'm in repair than murder mode.)

Considering that I was out for a long time yesterday and that I have now been taking natto (100 mg) for three days, I'm actually doing fairly well.

i took a good bit of extra fish oil last night and found my skin to be much smoother and less dry today. I didn't realize I was so short on it.

You are on target. Just hang in there a little longer. When do you see Dr. Guyer?

The weather has been milder. Can you take a hort walk and breathe in some fresh air? I've been taking walks in the afternoon.

Nexavir is helping, I think. I'm going to up my dose.

    Hugs,
