    Hi All,

Thank you so much for responding to my post. It looks like a few of us are on the hunt today for good fibro doctors. I live in the Austin area and have access to some pretty good doctors and specialists. However, none of them specialize in fibromyalgia or know enough about it to help me get "all the way better".

Therefore, I really feel like I'm spinning my wheels, which is obviously quite frustrating. The one symptom I've had the best luck in improving is pain. (Thanks to the Guai Protocal.)

However, the many other symptoms of fatigue, IBS, hypoglycemia, IC, etc are just ever-present and preventing me from enjoying life because all to often, I'm too sick to get out of the house and do much. Also, I have bipolar II, so I need a doc that is educated enough about it and knows how to incorporate that into the equation as well.....which shouldn't be difficult because many people with fibro also have bipolar or depression as well.

**If possible, please tell me how your doctor is helping you with your fibromyalgia. The more specific the better. No need to get ultra-personal but I need to know how this doc might be able to help me with the specific symptoms I'm experiencing and what might set this doc apart from other docs I've been seeing if that makes sense.**

Names, phone numbers and websites appreciated of the docs too. THANKS SO MUCH!!

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my post!! Wishing you all a healthy/happy day.

    Love, Erika

I have an internist in Plano (on the Bush tollroad, west of 75) who is very helpful, Dr. Joe Sample.

And just started with a neurologist, Dr. John Harney who is fantastic. Said he'd go to court with me if needed for the disability. He is in Richardson west of of 75.

    Good luck on your search!

I have a Pain Dr in Carrollton, Texas that is fabulous! Dr. John East - Metroplex Pain Management. It would be a bit of a drive for you, but he is so great and understanding.

    Good luck with your search!

    Dear Susan,

Thanks for the info! Can you give me a little more info about your docs? What is your internist treating you for, and what is your neurologist treating you for? Also, do either of them specialize in fibromyalgia? Do you have phone numbers for them? Thanks so much for your help!!

    Love, Erika

    Hi Lisa,

Thank you so much for your response. Pain seems to be the one symptom I have down to a "dull roar" so to speak thanks to the Guai Protocal and exercise. Your profile pic looks great. Hey, you can't really be sick! KIDDING!! I get that a lot. Drives me nuts. :)

I'm so glad the pain mgmt. clinic is working well for you. Thanks again for taking the time to respond!

    Warm hugs, Erika

Thanks for the compliment! That was a good day for me and my little girl wanted to capture it. lol

Dr. East helps me with understanding what it is that I am dealing with most of all. I have been dealing with a ton of unique symptoms and general feelings of "crappiness" for years. It wasn't until I started seeing him that I learned about FMS. Such a shame that we have to go through so much and so many dr's to find out what is wrong with us.

He has prescribed meds for sleep, IBS, muscle spasms, pain, etc. Also has prescribed massage and chiropractic which has helped me tremendously. I also get trigger point injections and hip injections on a regular basis as needed for pain/muscle spasms. It is truly amazing how pain affects all parts of your body. I have found that a good nights sleep does help some with the fatigue. Also treated for anxiety in the beginning as well. Love him!

Good luck and hugs back to ya!

BTW - Where is your picture?

    Hi Lisa,

Your doc sounds great! I'd rather see a doc in Austin, but I just haven't found one. Maybe someone in Austin will know of another doc I haven't heard of, but I feel like I've almost tapped them out.

I'm having problems posting my pic. I'm following all the steps, but it's not working. When I go to the last step that says "add picture", it won't upload for some reason. I have Mac computer, but that shouldn't make a difference. Maybe my hubby can help me figure it out.....he's the computer expert. Then I gotta find a decent pic! ;-)

Great chatting with you. It's always nice talking to a fellow Texan. Have a happy/healthy day! :)

    Warm hugs, Erika
  9. Hey, I am from Waco, Tx so I think I should be in the center of Austin and Carrolton someone mentioned above. I also am looking for a "better" rheumy as so far Provigil and Ambien CR is all he has given so far. I am a mother so I need help in more areas than sleeping. Sleeping seems to be the ONLY area I don't need help!

Response to: What is your internist treating you for, and what is your neurologist treating you for? Also, do either of them specialize in fibromyalgia? Do you have phone numbers for them?

My internist is like a GP to me. He treats me for everything including my high blood pressure and diagnosed and has treated my FM for about 10 yrs. Dr. Joe Sample # 972-758-4604. Dr. Sample is the best listener, gentle person and will work with you on things you want to try.

I was recommended to the neurologist by an ER doc, my foot doc and my internist to treat my FM. Dr. John Harney w/Dallas Neurological Asc. # 972-783-8900. Dr. Harney is known for treating FM patients and is on the doctors listing on this website.

    Happy hunting,
