I was reading an article that said that studying 40 families that had fibromyalgia, they found it was "highly prevalent" in the families. Are you an isolated case in your family or would you say there are others in your family that have it? Of the females what percentage appear to have it?

My mother suffered for 30 long, painful, undiagnosed years.

I got it at age 47.

I suspect my maternal Grandmother had it as well.

It is just me in my family. My mothe might have it but hates going to doctors so she will probably stay undiagnosed.

I have it, and my mom, and we're pretty sure now that my maternal grandmother had it too... people just thought Grandma was a hypochrondriac but looking back now she had many of the same symptoms as Mom and me. Both my adult sons have had IBS and myofascial pain, but I'm hoping they'll take good care of themselves so they won't develop any other symptoms
