    Hi everyone,

I went to the emergency room 3 nights ago over palpatations.. The main reason was my heart wasnt beating hardly at all and wanting to pass out every 2 minutes. I have fibro and I wonder sometimes if spasms can cause the heart to palpatate.. The reason I ask is that I know one can get bladder spasms from fibro why not anything else? My heart rate stays up and my bp flucates now. One minute at 103/51 and then up to 170/111... The sad part of it is I am only 26 years old, and I hear most ppl that does experience this are older (in most cases). Then i get this huge knot feeling in my throat.. I go friday to wear a heart holter for 24 hours. Anyone else experience these problems?

--I get spasms under my ribs really bad that is why I ask. --

    Thanks in advance..
    Regards,
    Misty

Usually my blood pressure is on the low side but for no apparent reason at all it can go higher but not as high as yours. I do have Mitral Valve Prolapse (benign heart valve problem) and a lot of pain in my rib cage and cramps under my ribs on the left side under my breast.

I'm wondering about your slow heart beat...are you on any meds? Have you ever had an echocardiagram?

I bet the knot feeling you get in your throat is anxiety.

You mentioned that some people with FMS get bladder spasms. I didn't know that! But that sure explains a lot now! This sure is a frustrating illness :(

Mariah is right....you should have an echocardiogram if you have not already. So many of us have a Mitral Valve Prolapse (75%) and it is important to know if you have one.
Also, do a search in the Library here for "dysautonomia" and read about this part of the illness. Blood pressure and heart rate are controlled by the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), and so are subject to the dysregulation of this system, which is common in FMS. I have had wild blood pressure swings for about a dozen yrs. now. Since my most dangerous swings are upwards, a blood pressure lowering med which also calms the sympathetic branch of the ANS has helped me a great deal. It is called Catapres.
A cardiologist might be your best bet for help with this.

I am only on catapress which I do not take anymore.. 1mg. I was also on efferex 32mg very low dosage. My doctor told me that the efferex was such a mild dosage it shouldnt have caused it. But, I quit taking it just to make sure. Better safe then sorry.. ya know? I also take prevacid which i dont think that could cause it, Ive been on them for a year now and nothing since 2 weeks ago. I havent had anything done but a stress test.. I go Monday to my doctor and I dont know what hes gonna do but I can say he best do something.. It bugs me at night cause when my heart skips its like that knot feeling in my throat and it will go away when it stops skipping.. Makes me irratable!!
Klutzo I will look up that information, I really appreciate your help.. I read something similar in women that have Endometriosis.

    Thanks,

I had a 24 hour holter done.. I averaged 2000 pvc's in that period. I go to a heart specialist the 18th. My pulse flexuates from 149-100 in matter of seconds. Anyone else do this? I go Thrusday to get a echo doppler done..

You can go to potsplace dot com and learn more. I was just DX with pots but I have also had many trips to the ER. I had a echo done it was normal, stress test normal and heart monitor normal. Your cardiologists will probably want to do a tilt table test done. I had mine done in Cleveland Clinic(4 hrs drive). If your heart doc says nothings wrong then go elsewhere cause thats what happened to me. Good Luck..

I am pregnant at the mo', but I am having trouble much like yours.
I usually have low blood pressure & a slow beat, but occasionally it slows right down, or speeds right up (tachycardia) for no apparent reason.
Since I've been pg it has gotten worse. I can't even walk to the local shop or the palps get unbearable. I can be sitting at my computer, not doing anything at all & suddenly go cold & clammy & my hb gets all funky :(
I have had an ECG in the middle of one of these 'attacks' & it showed nothing. I was supposed to go on a heart monitor for a week, but my doctor wants to wait until I am no longer pregnant. (Seems kinda stupid to me, if pregnancy is making it worse!)
Hope you get some answers soon!

When I was prego with my first child I had tachycardia and severe high bp. My second child I had low bp.. Pretty weird. But, now almost 6 years later Im having the speeding pulse again. I never notice a change when I stand up but I do know I get alot of palps when i set or lay down or when im active and rest. Im pretty much forcing myself to do something all day long, but there are alot of times too I just have to set and rest.

That is odd they dont give you the monitor. The monitor shouldnt hurt the baby, not unless they feel it might pick up the babys heart beat with yours. I dunno. I know in ICU with my baby I had a monitor on me for 48 hours.
