Just wondering how many of you plan on getting a Flu shot this year? I am so scared about all this Bird Flu thing and always freaky about getting sick. I get mine every year. This year my daughter got one (3 1/2 years old) and both my hubby and I will have to find someone else that is doing them since our doctor isn't this year. I swear by them. Last year both my daughter and I got the flu shot and we still came down sick, but it was mild. My hubby who didn't get his got it bad and it took him over 5 months to get rid of the cough. It was awful.

I got a flu shot for the first time this year. I did not have a reaction. My LLMD said that I should expect to herx, but I didn't. Something positive for a change!

    so wont have one.

The bird flu - they dont have a vaccine for it yet anyway so the flu jag they're giving out wouldnt protect you from that.

know what to do. They are running out of the vaccine here though and all clinics are being called off after this weekend. I had heard the flu shots had Mercury, Formaldehyde, aluminum and Antifreeze in them. I couldn't believe it but I wrote to the FDA and asked about the Mercury and Formaldehyde..I figured that was more than enough to know. They wrote me back saying yes they are in the shots. They said the mercury has been very deeply researched but didn't say that about the formaldehyde or why they allow it in the shots.

I found out that in 1986 a law was passed that exempts pharmacutical companies from being sued even if something KILLS us. So that must be when they decided to make us guinea pigs again? The virus part is dead so
you can't catch the flu from it but
we KNOW formaldehyde is cancer causing and mercury causes retardation and lots of things.

I have FM and Asthma, my husband has Diabetes 2 and I think he also has FM, so you're afraid NOT to take the
shots, but at the same time??? I read that the vaccine can cause problems for Asthma patients too but they recommend them for us. I HAVE had a bad time with my Asthma ever since this shot, but I get bad with allergies this time of year too..so I can't say for sure it was the shot.

I am planning to get a flu shot tomorrow afternoon. I didn't get one last year and got the flu instead. I'll gamble on the shot this year, assuming I don't have to stand in line for several hours to get it.

didn't know about formaldehyde in the solution. yuck. I am sensitive to it, too. Darned if you do, darned if you don't, I guess.

I've been under such stress with selling this house and packing, I hope I'm not too run down to get the shot. I'll just hope for the best, I guess.

    Peace,
    Beth.

My specialist said us with CFS/FM shouldn't get the flu shot all in one shot. I think he said a 1/4 every week over 4 weeks or was it 1/2 each week over 2 weeks.

I can't remember but you may want to ask your doctors about it.

Man, I was just saying on another post that I have never had any problems with the flu shot and wham, my FM escalates to a level I have never experienced before the day after having it this year. Or could it be that I stood in line for over 1 hour waiting for it? Anyhoo, never say never. I will probably still get my flu shots each year, buy maybe try to prepare myself that I may feel like crap the day after.
