Flu symptoms and possible FM

I have not been diagnosed with FM but after reading about it I do have some of the vague symptoms. I suffer with almost constant, dibilitating, flu-like symptoms such as extreme weakness, bodyaches (mostly legs and feet), feverish or low grade, lightheadedness and feel just horrible. Here and there I have a fairly decent day but they are rare. I do suffer with COPD but don't need oxygen and chest is usually clear when there flare-ups occur.
Can anyone relate to these symptoms? If so, what do you do for them, if anything. I spend a little too much time in bed or suffering for my liking.
I hope someone can offer some suggestions or opinions.
    Thank you in advance.

hello. it could be CFS but could be other things, too. you would have to see a specialist, perhaps in infectious disease and/or internal medicine.

can you trace the onset of your symptoms back to an infection?

No, Sue, I can't trace them back to anything. I have been like this for years but would only come on 4-5 times a year. Now, it is almost every week out of the year. as I said I do have lung disease but it is moderate and shouldn't make me this sick, so often.
I did see infectious disease Dr and he had no explanation.
I cannot take antibiotics...NONE so when I do get something, it takes forever to get over it. Maybe it is an old lingering infection but I feel horrible all the time.
thank you for your reply and suggestions.

There are other people here who cannot take antibiotics. They can tell you about other options for dealing with bacterial infections.

I have ME (aka CFS or CFIDS) and my symptoms include the ones you list. You might want to do some research because, if other causes have been ruled out, ME/CFS would certainly be something to consider.

One of the things that consistently helps just about everyone function better is to learn to manage energy really well. Pacing and prioritizing are very important.

Taking care of bacterial infections has also helped a lot of people. As I said, you can find other people here who cannot take abx.

Hope you find something that helps. Having a community of people who totally understand often helps some.

    Rafiki...thanks for that informative reply.

I am at my wits end. It is so difficult to be sick all the time. I don't seem to be able to go anywhere and if I do make appointments, I have to cancel. Makes me real sad.
I hope I do hear from others who can't take the antibiotics and see what alternatives they have used.
I will follow up on your suggestions.
