Hi, I am new to this. My friend was diagnosed with FM and is having trouble at work.

Does anyone know if FM is recognized under the Americans with Disabilities Act? Unless an employee has workplace injury (workers comp) or an eligable ADA condition, I think they are out of luck when asking the boss for a lighter workload.

There are a lot of things which fall under the ADA such as alcoholism but I am not sure about FM.
    Thanks
    Susie

Have you contacted JAN? - Job Accomodation Network. They have a website that explains "Reasonable Accomodations" in the work place. Also check out the Department of Labor website for discrimination issues, JAN is part of their organization.

The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is a free consulting service that provides information about job accommodations,
the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the
    employability of people with disabilities.
