I went to an urologist today and he did tests and there is absolutely nothing wrong with my kidneys, bladder or sphincters!!!!

So, the GP was chasing ghosts!

Feel like a weight has been lifted of my shoulders.

So I guess that the frequent bladder infection is another 'lovely' symptom of FM....?

I am glad to hear your tests wre good. Sadly, I think we have UTI's as part of FMS.
I have RA too and the drugs for this knock your immune system down and I just finished amoxicillin for A UTI.
I don't think it is gone, dr took blood and urine Friday,so we'll see.

my great urologist gives me an "afterwards" pill to take right after sex. Also I have learned to urinate before and after. This helps a lot. Sorry to be personal but I have problems. I take it you had the cystoscopy then, and found it to be OK. I am so glad as it is always worth checking.

I do think we are more prone to UTI's also. My mom always said women should learn to shake like a man as wiping is pushing germs back into urethra, she was a midwife/nurse and always said toilet paper for pee was the worse thing thought up- I think she had a point.

If you do a search here for bladder infections, you will find lots of helpful advice. I'm glad it was nothing more serious.

    I had terrible bladder problems.

It wasn't the urologist that "cured" me, however, it was a gynecologist.

My problem was yeast overgrowth. That in turn caused horrible bladder spasms.

My doctor, Elizabeth Stewart, wrote a book for vulvovaginal health called "The V Book".

Her method for treating me was as follows:

    Diflucan protocol for 6 weeks.

I saw a biofeedback specialist who taught me how to progressively relax my vulvovaginal and bladder muscles to get rid of the spasms.

Use All Free and Clear laundry detergent, no fabric softener and double rinse all underwear.

Underwear must be boring 100% white cotton. No clothing dyes, that can promote yeast.

Hubby or boyfriend must also be treated for yeast infection. They can be asymptomatic carriers.

Void the bladder before and after sex.

I've not had a yeast or bladder infection for several years, following these guidelines.
