Hi, am new to this board and was diagnosed with FMS at the first of the year. In the office I did work in we had Stachybotrys, Penicillium, Aspergillus, etc. growing on the walls and ceiling tiles where the building had been leaking for several years. I'm an LVN (LPN in most states) and worked in the medical field since I was 17, I'm 43 now and have not been able to work for over a year now. Over thirty employees in our Government supported office became ill with varying symptoms, mine have been the worst, and I did not have FMS prior to this. My ex-co-workers and I have been seeing a specialist in this field over this time and I was treated with Immune Globulin I.V. by Home Health for thirty-two treatments for nerve damage, brain stem, etc. The Doctor has just released me from his care and I am much better now, some of which may be time out of the toxic enviroment. The FMS is still alive and well of course. Recently I began using some homeopathic remedies and am seeing positive results. I'm taking Magnesium Malate (mg. with malic acid), liquid trace minerals, essiac tea and using a topical mix of oils (wintergreen, panaway, peppermint) on pain spots as needed. I'm getting these from a person certified in herbs & essential oils. I was sceptical as a Nurse at first but will try almost anything for some sense of normalcy. The topical pain oils really does help me right away and I believe the Malic acid / Magnesium has probably done the most. "Brain Fog" is the worst part to me and has improved though not enough to feel it is safe for me to drive more than very short distances on back roads & only on the best of days. Just read that B-12 is good for the fog, will talk to my regular Doc. about it. Glad to be here, and wish you all improved health.

Vette, I was curious to see if you and your 30 + co-workers, have united to receive compensation for damages incurred, and for long term disabilities that have been contracted?
I am using homeopathic remedies as well as conventional, to improve my situation. Like you, I was skeptical, but have seen good results. Since the duration of my illnesses, has been of such a short time, I will have to wait with high hopes that it is effective, and not just a temporary easing, prior to a new flare.
    Best Wishes,

We do have a class action suit coming up after the first of the year against the property owners, managers & realtor, who knew about the leaks and did ill repair and no remediation of the molds. I worked in the building for almost three years with time out on Family Medical Leave Act twice, and became ill within the first year there. A couple of employees had FMS already and it worsened, some of us had hypothyroidism which went out of control (mine includ.) & some who never had thyroid illnesses do now with a few having goiters and one with surgical intervention that was extensive. Like you, I also hope the homeopathics are helping and not just our disease fooling us.
    Best Wishes, Vette

Hi Vette, welcome to our world. I do think you are the only person I have met on this board that takes 'Essiac' Herbal Tea. I have been taking the tea now off and on for 8 years, it brought my blood pressure down to normal in a few months, and it has never gotten high since. That is one wonderful product. have take it for many ailments, and it has never failed me, except it does not cure Fibro!

I also take the Malic Acid and Magnesium, have been now for two years, it has helped greatly with the pain, and has lessened my fatigue.

In fact, the only med that I take is Xanax, low dose (0.25mg.) at 6pm to calm my 'racing' brain so that I can sleep, everything else is supplements.

I also take ZMA (zinc, magnesium and B-6) for a deep sleep, have been taking this supplement since Feburary this year, have not sleep this well in my life, I sleep at least 7-8 hours deeply now as opposed to waking up every hour on the hour.

For the Fog, I take 'Ultra B-Complex (High Potency with Folic Acid), and I drink half my weight in ounces of water a day with a quarter teaspoon of sea salt.
This has almost done away with the Fog! Instead of 'losing' things and words every day, I only seem to get foggy when I am over tired or stressed.

Most all of the supplements I take are from Pro Health, except for the Essiac Tea.

Many of us here are on supplements as well as meds, and some take both.

Again, welcome to the board, and hope we hear from you often, and good luck with your suit.

    Shalom, Shirl

Good to hear from you Shirl, will look at some of your meds for my self. I have anxiety disorder & have since childhood, I've taken Xanax for about twelve years and Wellbutrin for most of that same time. I take my Xanax .5 (1 to 1 1/2 tabs) when I feel the symptoms which means I always take it four times a day and that has always bothered me. I have a problem with the B-Complexes as one of them is contraindicated with anxiety disord. and causes my heart to race. My "witch doctor" as I call her also brougt me Shitake Mushrooms & Boswella (frakencense) the later she said would help the anxiety.....she almost said cure which excited my husband and I, "it ain't happening". Stopped the B-Comp. after two doses of palpitations and remembering the ingred. in it I can't tolerate. I am sleeping better since increasing the Magnesium Malate, though have had to slowly get up to suggested amount and am still not taking everything I have from the herbalist after a month now as I am sensitive to so many meds. The only Rx's I have are for pain & nausea prn and take them as seldom as possible, maybe once a week. As I said I have issues with taking addictives, I'm already physically hooked to one and detest that but the anxiety problem runs rampant through my family and is chemical. Have been on all anti-depress except MAOI's and refuse those. I'm wordy I know, but I'm a Texan and after a year of being unable to work in the public get slightly lonesome when my Husband / best friend is at work. Thanks for the note. Please write again.
