Thanks for your reply, and to awnser you my pain is not that bad, sometimes i think i don't have fibro. when i do the things i used to do wham the pain is back. as for sleep i'm in bed by 11:00 pm. i sleep fine, wake up one to two times at nite, but have a hard time getting up. my doctor is great. the only problem is that i feel she has not done the proper test for fibro, and she has not said anything about a specialist, no presser point test just some blood work that came back normal. any advice would be great.

    thanks stephanie

The Fibro started with me just like you described. I would be fine, then I would do too much house work, gardening, so on and so forth. The the pain would hit. Well it just got progressively worst.

As for sleep, maybe you are sleeping long, but not deeply, like stage four sleep. I had a serious sleep problem all my life, which is odd, most of us with Fibro seem to develop the sleep problems after a diagnosis of Fibro, or rather after we seem to have been afflicted.

The problems getting up in the morning started years after the Fibro. I was still running on about two to three hours of sleep in 24! Yea, I was a real nut case with the sleep thing.

I now sleep, deeply, I take a product called; ZMA (zinc, magnesium, and vitamin B-6) it is sold here at Pro Health.

Since taking this supplement, I sleep like the dead, wake up, and instead of wanting to go right back to sleep, I am just, as we called it; foggy for about an hour now(before taking the ZMA I was not functional for at least three or four hours after I woke up).

YOu might want to ask your doctor about this supplement, just be sure you get the brand from Pro Health, or the 'SNAC' brand as the others don't work like this.

It is possible that you are not getting your proper sleep and that could be causing the pain, and the fatigue during the day.

If you like, you can go to the 'Home' page, link at the top of this board, and type in Fibromyalgia, and then Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It will bring us all the symptoms and you could see if you can relate to them.

There is no test just for these two illnesses. What the doctors do, is give you a bunch of tests to rule out other illnesses, like Lupus, arthritis, Mono, MS, and so on.

The only 'test' I know of is the pressure point test (for Fibro), there are 18 points in your body that if pressed will hurt, you need at least 11 to be diagnosed with Fibro. But all the other tests will be done first.

Then they usually come to the conclusion that you have FM or CFS.

There is so little known about these two illnesses, that so far its really just guess work for anyone, doctor or patient.

Maybe you could print out some information from the Home, Library, Community links here and bring them to your doctor. She does sound like she is concerned. Most are not familiar with these illnesses.

I sure hope you are just having a deep sleep problem. That could be controled, and then you would be fine. I hope you don't have FM/CFS!

Hope this helps some, and do go read some of the articles on the Home page.

    Shalom, Shirl
