Francie had a fabulous ides to have a thread devoted to posting poems, as she and I are both poets-in-hiding! If there are others of you out there, please join us!! I have a long history of abuse, pain, illness and recovery... my poems run the gamut of emotion, but hopefully we can all inspire and motivate each other through expressing our creativity!

    Hope to see you there!

p.s. this is a public forum, and though there are records, it is best if, before posting an original poem, that you "copyright" your work by sending a copy to yourself in the mail. Do not open it, but put it in a file, in case a need would arise for you to prove your ownership. You would have the postmarked date on your work.

About the copyright. And thanks for getting things started.

I'm too tired to walk, talk or breathe deeply tonight. Sounds like you're about the same. The pain for the last week has been bad. I finally asked the doctor for something stronger than hydrocodone for times like this. She wrote the prescription, but I have to drive to her office to get it. Driving is a problem. I feel like I'll fall asleep in traffic. I think my husband will go get it tomorrow, though.

My poems are about my life, too. Some of them are a little wild--like I was/am/aspire to. One professor I had said what a wonderful imagination I had. I didn't tell her the poem was word for word what really happened!

Who would have thought poetry would arrive from all this pain?

I hope you are feeling better... I just got my pain specialist to give me Lortab for the times when Tramadol doesn't cut it... I didn't have the guts to ask yet what to do when the lortab doesn't even dull my pain and that's been happening more and more frequently. ugh.

I am waiting to feel pain relief from the Neurontin, but we are bumping it up slowly b/c I do react to lots o' meds...

Loving thoughts and hope to see more poems posted on the Poet's Heart thread... this means not only from Francie- you are already committed, woman- it was your idea! But all you poets hiding in the corner...

I'm game to join in...but I sure ain't gonna be the one to go first! lol

Someone else post something first...I'm being a total weinie lately.

Also, great idea abt the copyright!!! Wish I though of that in college. Had roommate literally snarf a psych term paper out of my puter and just put her name on it. Evil girl! lol

Looking forward to seeing what ya'll come up with, but I'm just not gutsy enough today to start us off with a bang (or more my case at least...a whimper!)

    Post em! LOL

Hope you're both doing it me, or was today just a WRETCHED day all around? Something in the stars...

I looked in the chat room earlier tonight when you were posting here, hoping to see your smiling face there. OK, I'm delusional, but I'm really fun. Stole that from the movie, When a Man Loves a Woman, at least I think that's the name. Andy Garcia and Meg Ryan.

Most of my poems are on a disk somewhere. We've been going to remodel our house for ages and every once in awhile we get ready to start by clearing a bunch of stuff out and moving it to storage. Then some other thing happens and the remodel doesn't start. Old news. Anyway, I might be able to find some that I had published by small presses. If worse comes to worse, I'll just break down and write a new one. It might be hard to write about what I know when I don't know anything anymore.

The poems are going to go on the thread called "A Poet's Heart" that Lollie started.

Hope you are doing ok. Is is working out with your godmother? Are you allowed to ever rest?
