    Hi All,

I felt I needed to comment on this subject. I am sure I posted
something in here about it before but maybe that was another group....

Everytime I have had the flu shot I have ended up in hospital with
the BAD flu and chest infections. Two weeks after my hubby came to
Australia I was in hospital on and off for a few weeks because of it.

I have been told by Dr. L and my CFS doctor before that because of my
personal CFS and other problems it is far better for me to have the
shot then to get the full blown flu.

Most doctors will say you can not catch the flu from a flu shot.
Guess what??? CFS ppl can!!!! I am not at all suprised seeming how
our bodies and our immune systems work.

Every year I am so afraid to take that flu injection, i voiced my
concerns to Dr. L late last year and he said that the year before he
had 10 ppl with CFS and immune problems end up in hospital cos of the
flu injection and that that year he only had one.

A week before the flu injection he gives me and others a strong
medication called 'Predisolone". I slowly increase it for three days
and then decrease for three days until I am completely off it.

I used it for the first time this last winter and guess what? No
reaction what so ever, not even a cold... I was stoked!!!!! :)

    Love

That this is a steroid which lowers the immune system's ability to fight off infection? This seems awfully drastic just to allow one to take the flu shot without a reaction. Steroids are heavy-hitter drugs and should be only used to prevent death, serious disease or in cases where pain is so great that it totally interfers with quality of life. Even in small doses, steroids are not something to be taken lightly.
