This post is really just an FYI, as I think we all need to be informed of what goes on regarding the health field in general, both "medical" and "alternative".

Some may think this is off topic but I don't, as Barrett has attempted to discredit at least some very creditable health/medical treatments. I'm not going into which ones are and which aren't, IMHO, as the point is this guy could've done a good job but didn't.

If someone like this attacks everything he can think of including those that do have good science based research behind it, he discredits himself. Obviously the Judge thought this too.

Yes, this is Tim Bolen's site, Bolen is someone Barrett has unsuccessfully attacked... but if you read thru the articles, there are links to the actual decisions written by the judge/court.

"Stephen Barrett and Wallace Sampson walked into a California courtroom to testify that Homeopathy was a bad thing, etc., got handed a non-suit Decision, and a Statement from the court (NCAHF v King Bio) that they were declared "biased, and unworthy of credibility."'

Hi Victoria - I never take anything seriously that comes from Quackwatch. As far as I am concerned the only quack is Stephen Barrett. I receive his newsletter and get a good laugh out of some of it, it is so ridiculous at times.

A little more of Barrett's history:

    >>>At trial, under a heated cross-examination by Negrete, Barrett conceded that he was not a Medical Board Certified psychiatrist because he had failed the certification exam. This was a major revelation since Barrett had provided supposed “expert testimony” as a psychiatrist and had testified in numerous court cases as such. Also, Barrett had said that he was a “legal expert” even though he had no formal legal training.

The most damning testimony before the jury, under the intense cross-examination by Negrete, was that Barrett had filed similar defamation lawsuits against almost 40 people across the country within the past few years and had not won one single one at trial. During the course of his examination, Barrett also had to concede his ties to the AMA, Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Food & Drug Administration (FDA).<<<

he's been a failure for years now...
I'm just thankful/hopeful that maybe now he will be a non-entity since no one can trust anything he says. Which really shows just how stupid he is.

    I love this site.

Stephen Barrett makes no bones about what his goals are. It is to stop quackery and he does a lot of this through the courts and his writings.

I guess I don't see the inappropriatenes of the above. He gets sued all of the time.
I really don't see why this post is not on the chit chat board instead of here. Hmmmm.

There are lots of people you could find things in their lives that would put them in an unfaorable light. It is called cherry picking.

So is he a menace of whistleblower? Depends on your point of view.

BTW, I think this post has the intent of being divisive.

    Tsk, tsk.

since many of us do check many sites for info.

The more information we have on pros and cons of protocols, meds, supplements and/or special interests... and specialists... whether it's alternative or big pharma, the stronger we are.

Which is also why (IMHO) it does belong here as so many of the things he has talked about are used and discussed on this board.
