So, can y'all identify this beautiful creature????????????
He certainly is beautiful! Don't have time to do a search right now though. His neck "muff" looks like something in my closet!
Could it be a type of Turkey Vulture?
I saw some different pics but not exactly like the one Diane found but very similar??
Hi Diane - did I get it right or not - huh , huh ???? LOL LOL
I hope you aren't feeling badly again.. I've been busy and haven't had a chance to check out any more birds but the head and body looked quite similar.
Sunflowergirl et al, What do you think about this silly bird? I noticed that you were on line now. It looks rather like Turkey Vulture . Sorry DIANE isn't here to tell us if that is correct or not. Have you been looking at all?
Hope Diane comes back soon and is feeling better. I am just guessing she may not be feeling so well since she hasn't come back since she put the picture of that bird on here for Game 14 !!
Hope you are doing well. It is SO very HOT here, in the high 90's and close to 100. Very huid too. Thank God for A/C. What did everyone do before A?C and electricity - phew !!!
TTYL hopefully !
I looked up turkey vulture, but the photos show feathers on the head. I've seen those in the past in a field....scary looking birds but fascinating. I think it might be some type of vulture though. Keep looking.
I'm feeling really awful, trying to take gabapentin and not having a good time at it. I think the doctor's nurse is tired of talking to me!
Hi Granni - I checked out turkey vulture after you said it. It looks like they have reddish heads, and this bird has rainbow colors. Pink, purple and yellow. Haven't been able to find it either.
Sunflower - so sorry you're having a bad day! Is it your neck pain?
I think I found a picture of one with the multicolored head yesterday but I can't find the same one today. I didn't save it or anything yesterday. If I find it again I will let you know that I am not crazy !!
Sun - Sorry your head and neck are bothering you. Mine are always bothering me and am now trying some spices to see if they help. I found an article that spoke of how to reverse OA , interesting. Right now I don't know what is what. Hope you feel better soon.
keep searching ladies.....and thanks
I thought the gabapentin was helping me with the pain, but then came terrible IBS in the mornings for over a week (apparently a side effect) so today a friend told me to try taking enteric coated peppermint capsules. I'm hoping that by taking it at nighttime with the gabapentin it will help. It's always something!!!!!!!!
OK.....I just did a search for vultures and found the California condor. Hmmmm....guess I should have known that since I live in calif.
Sun - you're right. It's the California Condor. What an interesting looking bird!
Saw Diane's exact photo on Wikepedia under that name.
Try and rest up - with all the pain and IBS you've been going through. Is it soothing being in your garden?
thanks Judy.....it would be if it wasn't almost 100 here today. I only run out to move the hose. I don't turn on the sprinklers anymore since I'm tired of water spotted windows.
I'm also fighting a possum in my tomatoes at night. Grrrrr. I still haven't gotten a tomato to eat but he/she has gotten six thru the netting I've put up.
Sun - thanks for finding the California condor. Maybe they were on the same page I saw the other day . Is or are the condors like vultures? Maybe I will check on it if I get the chance. I know that I saw that willy picture with the multi colored head on that bird.. Glad we got that bird taken care of anyway !! He he Again thanks for checking and getting it right. Feel better soon. I know what it is like with head and neck pain a real bummer.
Have a great weekend if I don't talk to you before then. Nothing like Possums in your tomatoes. We have had some under our deck. They can be pesty. We caught them with a friends trap and then let them go someplace else.
Hi to Judy too. Diane hope you are OK.
Bye for now.
