I just got back from my GI doc who claims all of my inflammation, pain and assorted fun things going on in my gut is gastritis, GERD and IBS.

I can't eat anything other than dry toast or I'm in pain.

Would appreciate any remedies, advice or experiences. I take 40 mgs of Protonix a day.

So nice to see you post! :) You were missed.

I have started taking blackstrap molassas too, which helps a lot. Unfortunetly, if I don't take the iron pills, I get really sick. Weak, fatigued and feel like I will pass out.

But your right, it did start around that time.

I've had Gastritis for about 5 years or so...Severely for the past 3. I've tried many traditional meds...currently on Prevacid.

Heard that Prevacid may not be the way to help my insides, so have added the natural stuff...Digestive enzymes with meals, Probiotics after meals, DGL Licorice in between meals. Started taking "Fiber Smart" recently to help with constipation. When I was taking all of this; I actually got WORSE!

I'm sorry, I know how frustrating this can be. I DO know that from what I've read; the Gastritis, GERD & IBS often coexist with the Fibro. Lucky us!

I have an appointment with a GI specialist in a few weeks. My regular GI guy is stumped. We'll see what the specialist says...I'm probably due for another Endoscopy (have had 3 ) just to see what condition my stomach is in at this point in time.

Protonix, BTW, killed my insides! I was in terrible pain taking it! You might want to try a different stomach med. I don't know why we react so differently to the same type of meds; but it's happened several times with me.(I can't take Aciphex or Nexium either.)

Chocolat...What dose of MSM do you take? I've heard good things about that supplement! I might give it a try!

Good luck leenerpups! I've found that "traditional" GI docs are great at diagnosis, but don't offer much for treatment besides the drugs... I think it's because our problems stem from the FM/ CFS & are not the usual cases of Gastritis that they see.If our problems come from a dysfunctional Autonomic Nervous System (current theory), we won't be healed until that dysfunction is made right.

    Blessings,
    Anne

I have had GERD for quite some time now and my stomach is always gurgling and churning and HURTING! I have been on the candida diet for over a week now and all of the symptoms are gone. I did slip and drink a cup of coffee the other day and the acid reflux reared it's ugly head again. I am not on any medicine for any of it right now and I have absolutely no symptoms.

SEveral years ago I had to take iron for anemia. Someone at the health food store recommended a particular brand which was not constipating and which was easy on the digesteive tract. I had no problems taking it.

So perhaps you should try a different brand of iron. I don't remember the brand I took, it was too long ago. but I'm sure someone at a health food store could help you.

I've put so much time into the other, that I'd just like to refer you there. Think the username is Francie54, and the title contains, "Esophogitis, constant sore throats are killing me".

Her condition seems much more progressed, but I think still treatable. The person who had success w/ MSM was very advanced too, and fully treatable. MSM isn't going to work for everyone though, it didn't do anything for me, but we all have different deficits.

Whatever it is I'll say its painfully tiring~&
    lasts weeks.
I was admitted once into the hospital and since they found nothing really wrong except dehydration on being admitted,...they concluded possible gastritis.
But I never really got a Definite DX of it being that.

Something bothers me every now and then tho,...and its horrible!! Can't eat,my stomach just hurts as bad as you can imagine. My pain sometimes radiates into my back straight thru me. I can feel a thump or heartbeat in my belly from the pain. I don't know if its severe IBS (cause I do have that also) ?? or gastritis.?

    What is MSM?
I've seen it a million times but never looked into it because I did'nt know its uses.
Its for healing the intestinal tract??

I know L-Glutamine is suppose to be helpful too,as is aloe vera juice.
Odd that you say all you can eat without horrible pain is toast. I'm the same way when it hits me.
    Toast and oatmeal~ yum. :)
Gonna check into MSM (search it) Thanks
    Hugs

I went to the doc yesterday after a whole week of unbearable stomach pain and burning, nausea and diarhea and he said gastritis and possibly a peptic ulcer.
I am now taking Ulsanic, Maxolon and Losec, I am feeling better and can keep my food down.

A pharmacist I work with also gave me this remedy: belladonna tincture, just keep it in your pocket and put a few drops on your tongue, just enough to make your mouth dry, titrate your dose according to this and do it all day long.

    Hope you feel better soon!

I went and made an appointment for a new GI today, one that specializes in pancreas too.

My old GI tld me my pain and swelling was just IBS. They just love to shove us into a "blanket" DX catagory box and move onto the next patient, don't they?

It is NOT GERD or IBS. I have had those two for 3 years and know what they feel like.

Ho[pe the rest of you get answers and relief as well.
