    Hi All,

I know this is a difficult question for everyone. I do not think many here have been referred to a Hematologist / Oncologist.

I seen this gentlemen last week and the only tests he ran was a CBC, something to check for carcinoid activity since I have had cancer, and a test to check if my Hisoplasmosis has been reactivated, OH, and something on the Pancreas.

If needed, you can read my first post to see my history. I have read up on Hematology and learned that the specialize not only in cancer, but in infectious diseases too.

Any ideas would help, I hope someone here knows what this specialist can do for me.

    Love and prayers,
    Brenda

Thank you so much for being helpful!!!!

I know I have quite a history. Hard to say this, but I keep waiting for the day when I can have my HAPPY years back.

I do not know why my MD has never sent me to a specialist. I guess he just did not feel the need to, even after 3 1/2 years of chronic fatigue. AND GUESS WHAT, it was not my MD that sent me to the Hematoglist, it was my OBGYN and one of his nurses, I asked them for help, and they are giving it to me.

As far as the ANA goes, I am not sure how elevated it was or what pattern. It was run late 2004. Had to press my MD just to run the test. Then he asked me the general lupus questions. I did not pass. Then he replied "well, what do you want me to do, send you to a rhuemy?" Real nice, huh!!

My last WBC was 19,700. I know that it was ran with differential, but I am not sure about the breakdown. Doc did not tell me. I am going to try to get a copy of it.

When I was at the Hematologist last week, he absolutely refused to check me out for leukemia. I asked him several times, almost begged. I will have to beg again tomorrow as this is what I am most worried about!! He said the labwork did not look like I had it.

I have been to the leukemia message board and I know there were dozens of people there that were asymptomatic of this disease, only high WBC (some lower than mine) and ended up having leukemia.

I can tell you a little recent history, in the last three months, I have had three courses of antibiotics because of high WBC.

I will definately take your advise and TRY to have him do a urine test to find out what KIND of protein is spilling over.

And I will print out all of my history and write out a list of questions to ask, like the protein!! This is my only chance with this specialist and I want him to rule out as much as he can and not just throw me out after a few tests!!! I am sure you have been there. I am just beginning!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and reply so in depth for me.

Hope to hear from you tomorrow or later tonite.

    Love and prayers,
    Brenda
