I promised I would post back re my thyroid biopsies on the three nodules. As it happened I ended up with a team of people all in the room. The Ultra sound tech, the doctor, the pathologist and cytologist all stayed in the room to get instant results. There were especially nice.

I elected not to have the lidocaine injected as I hate any part of my body esp. throat area frozen as I get panicky, so we just went "betadine only".They called the results to me one by one right in the room. Cool.

Results were: Large nodule: non toxic goiter
    Medium nodule: ditto
Small nodule: Looked iffy, could not get
enough from two aspirations to do FLO, but
cytologist said he thought it could be
Hashimoto's showing or maybe more worrisome
tissue. Too small a sample to tell but he
suggests we monitor this one nodule, see if
it changes, if it grows, do another FNA. Just
keep monitoring I guess for the "c".

So pretty good news and apart from feeling a little bruised
is all. The doctor was really excellent.

I feel comfortable letting it ride for a few months, especially as I had two scans last year to monitor growth.

So, I am feeling pleased about this. Good week as we got Danny jnr(the one with autism) into a five week summer school in the district yesterday, so he he is well pleased about being with his friends AND they do a bunch of fun stuff, the lake beach, swimming lessons....neat.

Love and thank you for all your prayers and well wishes.

    Love Anne Cromwell

    Hi Anne,

I didn't know you were getting the biopsy done but just saw that you posted the results. It sounds as if you are pleased with the results and I'm glad to hear that. Of course as far as the small nodule, PLEASE keep that checked; VERY important. Aren't goiters rather common? Are you supposed to keep them monitored as well?

I am going through the same thing and still concerned about what's going on with mine. I have 2 nodules and last Nov. 2005, had CT scan, then ultra sound, then nuclear med and that was unable to detect hot or cold. Very worried at that time so Dr. decided that I needed fine needle biopsy, which I had, and was benign. However, due to previous cervical fusions and all the scar tissue up there, Dr. still not satisfied so had bloodwork done at hospital and appt. coming up with Endocrinologist. Dr. still thinking of sending me to another town for specialist for surgery to remove them, still danger of vocal cord damage; sigh!

    My prayers are with you,

    Thank God!

    Sounds amazing! Did it hurt?

This is such good news, of course we were all worried to death for you, but knew you are so sensible and such a trooper, guess you know we are so proud of you.

Now its just watch and wait...the HARD part, again, huh?

Bless you, dear one, and thanks for letting us know...

    There's always hope!

I know you were worried as we all would be. I'm so glad it's over for your sake and that you got the results so quickly. A real bonus that you were treated so well!

Take care and get some rest.

Glad to hear all is well. I too have a multi-nodular non toxic goiter. Are you on any meds for this? My dr. wouldn't give me any because levels were within normal range. Just curious!

Anne, wonderful news. Thank you for posting it. I'd thought about you and how it was going. You're very brave.

Also excellent news about Danny. The sun is shining on your house.

    Anne -

I am so happy to hear that your biopsies went well!! Yippee and thanks to God that all our prayers for you served you well!

Great news about Danny Jr. also. I admire you so much for being such a wonderful mother to him.

I don't know how you do it! Hopefully you get a chance to catch up on your rest and taking care of YOU now that the latest hurdle is behind you.

I'm very happy to hear that you are taking a conscientious

approach to your medical agenda. Monitoring one's health

and avoiding potential problems is a wise thing to be do-

ing. You appear to have many friends on the website that

feel close to you and are concerned about your well being!

On an unrelated topic, tell Danny that if there are some

cute girls at his camp, maybe he could put in a good word

for me as I have the rest of the Summer with nothing to

do! Always wanted to see up State N.Y. Sounds as if he

is going to have a great time. I'm sure he is fortunate

    to have wonderful parental support.
    Best wishes,
MRDAD P.S. Check out the final reply on the HoT Dog
Issue Posted on the 4th. if you missed it.
