Teacher here. Been gone for a while dealing with many things mentally and physicaly. Am improving so hope to be around more often.

Just wanted to say hello to all and best wishes to all educational staff (cooks, bus drivers, tutors, assistants, secretaries, teachers, principals, custodians, counselors, etc.) for the up-coming school year. Knock 'em dead!

A former teacher here. What a trying and rewarding job teaching is. Each day seems to be just so daily...the same problems, the same attitudes, the same interruptions, the same, the same, the same.

But during these days, every now and then a big reward is waiting to find you...a kid who gets it, a student who comes back and talks to you, a kid who smiles instead of frowns. Such a wonderful job that I do miss it, but I know that I no longer have the stamina or the strength to do it. So, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you begin...you and all the others that make education possible.

    Have a great year...

Another former teacher here. Actually, I went into the behavior specialist aspect of the spectrum - I worked with autistic children at a private school.

Boy, do I miss those special smiles & glints of the eye. Phew! I wish my body could handle it.

Best of luck to you - hope you have a wonderful school year!

What age level & what do you teach?

Enjoy those last few days, if you have them! Around here, the kids go back Sept 8. But I saw the HS parking lot full of teachers cars today LOL!

    Hugs,

I'm not a teacher, but am one greatful mother! I have a son going into 2nd and my daughter's first year! I volunteer a lot...mostly to keep on top of what is going on w/my son. he is difficult and requires "team work" when behaviors strike. I am so amazed at the giving spirit of teachers. I admire you and all those in your field more than anyone. I did work in a group home for autistic adults for years and got a taste of how tough it is to give so much and have so few appreciate it. Loved my time there though. Thank you for all you do! Sonya

I say BooHOO because I don't want summer to end. I am a teacher as well. I teach grade 1 (reading recovery) and grade 3 English in two schools. I LOVE my job. It has so many rewards. But...I still wish summer would never end.

Hope you all have a great school year!!

I so wish that I was healthy enough to be in the school getting my bulletin boards done and preparing the curriculum for the school year.

I taught for 25 yrs, every grade from 5 yr old Kindergarten to Gr. 8. I was the school librarian for a few years and the resource teacher for special needs and teacher of the "Gifted". Finally after all those years I ended up teaching Special Ed and loved it more than all the other teaching jobs I had had.

Four months later I got sick. Although I stuck it out as best I could for the rest of the year I could not go back the following September. 12 yrs later I am still here waiting to get well enough to go back.

I will be sad as usual on the first day of school because I still want to be a part of the back to school excitement.

But I do wish all of you who are able to still teach a happy and successful school year. :)

I teach elementary General Music to roughly 500 students K-5. We go back Monday and the kiddies come back Wednesday. My classes begin the Tuesday after Labor Day.

I enjoy what I do and enjoy coming home to go to bed just as much! lol
