My pain specialist is suggesting this for my back which has kept me from being active without horrid pain. When I say active I mean running three errands and doing this and that not housechores or anything that should increase pain if overdone. Just moving around is a problem and has been for a couple of months. X-rays show nothing which does not mean inflammation could be there. Just wanted feedback from anyone with this kind of injection.

    ps (Not trigger point injections)

Good to see you back on the board. I can't help, but wanted to be sure your post stayed on the first page.

The board is moving fast for the last week and many messages are getting pushed to the second page.

Hope you get some answers soon.

    Shalom, Shirl

steroid injections in my cervical, lumbar and sacral spine. They all helped, except the sacral ones, for about three months. It is scary though. You cannot move at all. dolsgirl

    Hi Lynda,

I had a lumbar injection and facet injections were next. I have had this pain for since my teens, about 25 years now. The injections have a better chance of working if the pain is fairly new. The lumbar injection had side effects that I am unwilling to live with. I have pain related anxiety and the medication used for these injections increased my anxiety, my insomnia became worse for about a month, and my dull achey pain got a little better but the sharp pain increased. This is just my experience. My lumbar facet joints are a mess and much of my spine is arthritic.

You may be a far better canidate than I am for these injections.

I wish you the best...take care, Jan

I had 2, didn't help me at all. Everybody's body is different & I've heard others say the injections were worth it.

I have had lots of injections in my rear end as there are lots of tender trigger points there! I also had radio frequencing lesioning (I think that's what it was called!) in my facet joints because of the back problem. I can't say it made much differnce. It didn't hurt, and with the sedatives they give you it's OK. They then did stretches and trigger points on the same day which did hurt!
My back is still a big problem. Sitting is painful after 15 minutes.
Since then the pain consultant diagnosed FMS as no treatments had really worked.
    Hope it helps you

I just recently had my third LESI (lumbar epidural spinal injection).

This was not for fibro, though.

The epidural contained numbing medication along with a steroid.

It was for the spinal stenosis, arthritis, etc. in my lumbar spine which prevents me standing without pain. I can only stand/walk for about 10-15 minutes without the pins and needles severe pain in my lumbar spine and right leg.

Hello, I have had facet joint injections to both sides of lower back and to one side of my neck; however, my insurance ran out before injecting the other side. I have had pain for 22 years with bulging discs but was able to keep working with the help of pain meds and muscle relaxers. Then in Feb 01, I had a hyster., for awful menses. And then, well fibro and myofascial pain. It seemed to settle in my low back, with the worst spasms and electric shock pains. I have had spasms before but this was inhumane. Finally pain clinic, the facet joint inject. did help some but not to the left lower side. The doctor ended up blocking that nerve. Quitting work, basically doing nothing ended the spasms. I was suicidal and would have it done again. No one should ever have to go thru spasms like that. My heart goes out to you. One other thing, the injections are very costly, as they were done under iv's, x-rays, heart monitor, ect. So if you are at the end of your rope, this may help you. My addy is kayicemom@yahoo.com if you have any more questions. I would be honored to help. Take care.

I've had 2 steroid epidurals. The first one did wonders......for about 3 weeks. I had the second one and it made matters worse. Funny thing..today I received some copies of my medical records that were sent to SS. The second injection said that I got relief. Not true. I guess they put whatever they want on those records.
