I became really ill before Christmas, down in bed, ill. I finally got to talk to my Doctor, who is in Calif. He said it sounded like I was toxic and needed to detox. He told me the website where to order the products I needed for that. He also is sending me to a naturopath in
Tigard, Oregon, about three hours away. She specializes in Lyme. I am going to be glad to see someone, this not having a Doctor close is awful. My Doctor is so hard to reach and it takes forever for them to get back to you. I undestand they are busy, but when you are really sick and need help, that doesn't matter.
I have taken antibiotics since October and have at times, cut back on them. I cannot take the dose prescribed. Before Christmas I got so sick with acid reflux and stomach problems, it really scared me. I am still not sure that I will ever go back on the antibiotics. Now, I am thinking I won't.
I have an appt in Tigard on the 7th. I don't know where I will go from here.
I am feeling some better, I have been off the antibiotics for a couple of weeks now. I would love to hear from someone else who has had to detox.
    Thanks so much,

I don't have any personal info about detoxing from abx and having Lyme... but if no one responds and there's no info already on this board (don't know if you've tried a 'search'), you might try ilads.org where there's a ton of info on Lyme.

There are also good books about Lyme available and using alternative therapies. I copied off some info about 3 of them, but will make a separate post about them. The ones by Buhner and Rosner have been talked about a lot here and on the main CF/FM board, the other is a new book just out.

    Hope this helps,

My child has spent the last nine months in serious detox. We are using lazer detox. You need to find a lyme specialist and someone who can guide you with this. It is very necessary, but hard. Her thyroid is not good...so detox is difficult. We also have an infrared sauna to help with detox.....I think different people have various reactions and ability to rid their body of toxins. I will tell you that you need to drink a ton of water. i know that sounds like all med advise, but water through your kidney helps your body rid toxins. This you can do without seeing the doctor.
Do not hesitate to ask questions if you need to of me.

of " Healing Lyme" by Stephen Buhner . There are people who post on lymenet who could not tolerate ABX either , and who have improved on Botanical s/ herbs that have been studied and used in other countries for centuries .

I am going to try this too because I have problems with ABX ( guts) and yeast . I may pulse low doses of minocylcline with the herbs .

Andrographis has been favorable mentioned by those who had success with Buhner's core protocol. Some folks are getting much better . It is worth a try.

The Cowden protocol is another one to research ( samento/ cumanda) . However, I have seen a few more stories of improvement by folks using Buhner's program.

I so appreciate your answers to my post. I should be receiving my detox stuff in the mail in a couple of days and I am going to be going over to a naturepath next Monday. So I am not doing it on my own. I haven't bought any books on Lyme as of yet. Barnes and Noble din't have one on Lyme when I checked, but I know I can order some off the internet. Again, thank you so much!!! It is nice to know we are not in this thing alone. We have each other .

Maybe I am missing something in this message line, I don't come here often, but my understanding is that anyone using ABX for Lyme disease will have toxins in their system. It makes you sick and is called herxing.

That is what happens when the bugs are killed off, they cause toxins until they are flushed from the body.

I suppose using de-tox products make it work faster/easier, etc, and that is a good thing.

However, last winter, during my first 3-4 months on Ketek and Flagyl, I felt toxic (read: Herxing) most of the time. I found soaking in a tub with Epson salts and trying to keep hot enough to work up a sweat were useful to flush the toxins out. Also spraying my body with Hydrogen peroxide after the bath and leaving it on my skin (avoid delicate areas) 3-5 mins before showering it off, was another good thing.

When I was feeling my most miserable I would just remember that what was making me so sick was the body riding itself of those darned dead bugs and that was a good thing.

Hope this information is useful to you.

Jeannie is right. Detox and riding your body of toxin when you have lyme fand/or parasite dyeoff, is just part of the process and one you have to go through in order to feel better. I would not discount any treatment until you speak with a lyme smart doctor. Detox and hexing is necessary part. My daughter uses a lot of burber which helps with nausea and riding body....but speak to you doctor.
