In my ongoing quest that started in Sep 04 to find out why I gained 50lb from jul-sep, my flare never went away and has gotten worse over time.

We got a new rhuemy here and in the visit she listened to me, she asked a lot of good questions. Was concerned about my skin and she does not feel that it is eczma. In the end she ordered X-rays of hands, feet, and chest (check for swollen lympe nhodes) She then order a whole bunch of lab work all for auto immmune diseases/problems.

Did that yesterday - 12 vials - and they were not the small ones either. I go back and see her in a month to go over the results. You could really tell her wheels were a turning. As I stated earlier I will be going to surgery on Feb 15th to have my ovaries removed and a bladder suspension. Just had to share.

She sounds empathetic and smart. Wanted to know, though, if you've had your hormones checked? I was gaining 2 pounds a week and turned out to be thyroid even though my TSH was normal. My T3, T4 were off. A thought - find a good hormone specialist to do it and insist they do more tests than standard. Now I've lost all the gain and have no more sweet/carb cravings.

    Good luck!

been checked. All are in check for the time being. I have to go and have my ovaries removed, as they think that they are not functioning anyway. So Feb 15th that should help elimanate some of my problems. But when all the blood work comes back in a month I will have even more answers. Thank you for your replies. I think she is looking at all angles of any auto immune problems that could be stirring inside. I should have had my ovaries removed when I had my falopion tube removed in May '04 as there was so much damaged - but I guess that surgeon did not know.

I just got back from my cold AK vacation...a strange time to visit, but my husband had some work up there, so his way was paid. I flew companion fare, so it was cheap!
So glad you found a new rheumy- she sounds great! Will you be having your surgery in AK or WA? Take care! Terri

Sounds like she has started very well, and I hope she will continue to be aggressive and compassionate with your care.

I'm glad this was a good experience. It reminds me that I have to cancel my appointment with the rheumy I've seen...he's useless! My PCP is my best advocate.

Thanks for sharing the GOOD news.

sorry for the delayed response been sick. Alaska3335 yes I will be having my surgery done here in AK, as the doc who is doing the surgery is the one that did the hysterecomy, he has no bedside manner, but he is really straight forward and tells you how it is. When Medical problems come to play he is the man you want to see.

He had to redirect his statments several times...LOL another story.
