Does anyone else have nightmares nearly every night? I have dreamed the last 2 nights that 2 different people I know died. Most of the time, I remember them. I don't think it's the med. I take, cause I had them before I started taking them. Does anyone else do this?

I have nightmares almost every night and have had them for about 8 years! I know it is not my meds, mainly because I have had them for such a long time.

Nobody (medical or psychological) has any recomedations. It is frustrating! Especially since sleep is such a valuable commodity. If I don't wake up from pain, I end up waking up from fear!

I had been prescribed sleeping pills, this only made them more intense and I had a hard time waking myself.

I am now getting to the point of acceptance, reluctantly. I figure my body is letting me know it is not healthy.

I sympathize with you and wish you good dreams!!!

Glad to know I'm not alone. It's kinda scary to go to sleep, cause I know I'm gonna have a nightmare. They are so real. Sometimes I wonder how in the world we even dream and how can they seem so real.

I was having bad nightmares, I got rid of them by being very careful what I watch on t.v. and read about, I quit putting violence into my mind and it has helped a lot, no more crime shows or books about crimes.

I find that the sicker I get, the more violent & scary my nightmares become :( When I was hospitalised with the stomach ulcer they were absolutely horrid.

I am amazed at what I dream of! Horrible things and I dont know how my brain comes up with them? I wake up from them with such a dreadful feeling and flash back on them alot durring the day. Sometimes I will tell my husband of them and he say OMG why did you dream that? I dont know why?

So yes I do and my life is pretty simple, I do not watch TV much or read books with violence in them. I did work on an ambulance for 13 years and wonder if that is the reason? Like PTSD or somthing? Meds? Just dont know?

    Take care of you! Codey

I hate that others are experiencing bad nightmares too, but I'm glad I'm not alone. I've always had too deal w/ too much emotionally in my life, so maybe this has something to do w/ it. After I kind of got a handle on things, then I became sick w/ this DD. Maybe they will find out what causes them someday and what might help. I Feel for us all. Thanks to all for your replies!!

But before you go to sleep say to yourself....does not have to be outloud.....that any bad dreams you will turn into a comedy.....and that they are JUST bad dreams, not real so you will make them so you can laught at them.

Really works for some people.....If this thought comes into your dream, turn what you are dreaming about into something that is not scary......

Worth giving a try.......this illness of ours is known for affecting our brains and I think that is where the night mares comes from or your meds.....

Sometimes..in my dreams......I will open a door and leave the nightmare behind me and go to a land that is beautiful, sunny, flowers and birds....

I have been on about 3-4 medications for quite a while. Hated to hear about trazadone, b/c I just started taking it last week. Hope it don't make my nightmares worse. I have been dreaming about death more since I've been taking it though. BUMMER!!! Oh well, if I had to choose between having nightmares or having pain, I would choose the nightmares.

    Hi Everyone,
My husband has severe sleep apnea. So, we have become quite an expert in sleeping disorders and working with sleep specialists. I highly recommend that you get in touch with one. We have 4 stages of sleep. To make it simple for everyone, the 4th stage is the restorive sleep stage. It is the final stage of sleep that we can achieve. This is when the brain/body work to produce hormones and our cells repair themselves. This is the stage of sleep that we with FM so desperately need and almost never get to achieve. If you are dreaming or having nightmares the you are only achieving stage one or two sleep. Even though you may have been on your meds for a while, you can still develop problems because of the chemical changes in your body. If you have not discussed the nightmare symptoms with your Dr., you might think about doing so. My Dr. is very careful about my reactions because most of the time my body will not tolerate the meds. Vivid nightmares like what some of you discribe can cause cardiac arrest in your sleep. Many people with FM do not even realize that they may have a sleep disorder. A sleep specialist can order a sleep study to see if you are having problems that you are not aware of that are causing you to not reach stage three and four sleep. Just thought I would share what I have learned in the past few years. I pray you all find comfort and rest soon.
    Blessings,
    Mama Zoe

with all of you what I dreamed today while taking a nap. Guess I had a daymare. I dreamed that this guy I know was driving his motorcycle and a cow was in the roadway and he hit it. I remember seeing blood everywhere and a medic helicopter flying in and landing to pick him up. Don't know where in the world this came from. Wonder what I will dream tonight.
