it could be a cardiac issue. You should probably get this checked out soon. I have mitral valve prolapse and have recently began having shortness of breath upon just about any exertion. My physician is setting up and echocardiogram to make sure my heart is pumping strong enough.

I have asthma and those are my symptoms!

I use a steriod inhaler every night and it takes care of it.

It could also be bronchitis. You should probably get checked out by a doctor.

    Good luck,
    Tracy

See a doctor.I had the same problem.

I also smoke gave it up for a year still no relief.

saw my doctor for full physical last week.EKG showed that I had had a heart attack and never new it.Thought the pain in my left arm was FM and the numbness in my left leg and swelling.

Now I have an appointment with a cardiologist.I choose the best in my state so it will be a few weeks before I get it.

    Please call your doctor.
    Take care

Sounds like Gurd or Reflux and it can get serious before you know it.This can lead to ulsers or even to a type of cancer.
Yes quit smoking you will be thankful you did .It only adds to our poor health.
As far as weight take up a craft to keep your hands and mind busy.
Do this as a gift to your self .Try taking an atnacid like prilosec .But do go to your doctor and get test because it could be something different and he will help you. This can get worse very fast

You know you've got to do it - they're so toxic, anyway! Killed my dad nearly two years ago at only 53! If you have kids, I urge you to stop! PLEASE...for their sake!
As for breathing, I get those symptoms too plus non-stop yawning...it's frightening! I can empathise totally...never found anything that helped! Love Shelbo

Others have already posted all the possibilities I thought of regarding shortness of breath--with the exception of a form of anxiety or something akin to anxiety. That can do it, too, and it is another physical manifestation of fm/cfs/me/ . Back once more to my favorite theory--a switch in our brains turns on much too easily and doesn't turn off when it should. I've had this happen when, I swear, I didn't feel a bit anxious.

On the other hand, all the possibilities mentioned by others are strong possibilities and should be checked out.

Everyone seems to have posted serious problems. I thought I was alone on this one. Sometimes I lie in bed at night and I can't catch by breath. I think it might be panic attacks. Carrying the weight of this disease can be overwhelming. I always just have to calm down and try to breathe easy.

I have been very short of breath the last couple of months. Partly it is due to withdrawing from AD's and extreme anxiety attacks. I also have mitral valve prolapse. I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago convinced I was having a heart attack, but the EKG shows I have a very healthy heart (apart from the MVP). Praise God for that at least! It is a disconcerting symptom, though, to say the least.
