I've had Barium X-Rays before....long time ago. Not comfortable at all, but I tolerated it.

After a day of Popsicles and broth, I took pills and drank the yukky stuff last night. I became so very weak. This AM I had enemas. I thought I would not make it to the hospital. I did,I felt I was barely able to exist .. but
I could not tolerate the test and they dismissed me. I have not talked to my Dr. yet on this.
It felt like a gas nozzle at a gas pump up me. My fibro started really acting up trying to comply to all on that metal table.......neck, arms, leg cramps. Enough on that, you get the picture.

I used to be "tough", my pain tolerance is lowering, mentally and physically. So many years of this. It gets harder for me all the time.

I had Breast Cancer ..operated on 30 months ago. Large tumor. All is okay there. I am tested a lot. Of course with this problem I am concerned about my bowels and I can not ignore it. My Dr. is concerned that I might have a "damaged", for lack of a better word, section in my bowel and have part of it removed.

I do not know if they would do this proceedure if I would be put out. I have tried many things for Fibro (I also have CFIDS), all had an adverse reaction. I take nothing for it.

I am not one that needs "my hand held", nor a feel sorry for self person.......but I do not know how to deal with this. Anyone out there had a similar experience or have a suggestion?

I have not been here often at all for a long time. Not much energy for it. Miss many of you and I send Blessings and prayers often to all of you...... SUSAN

I've had very painful sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy in thge past. My last colonoscopy I was under general anesthesia in the hospital for it. Only out for 20 minutes or so. That test was the easiest I've had done. I was wide awake and walked out of the hospital when I was discharged an hour later. Have you had a colonoscopy instead of the barium? Maybe that would work for you.

    Good luck,

Please forgive me for not responding in a timely manner....I got flu like for a few days.

CT shows a problem in the bowel....sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy will not show all, as it is narrowed there. I have had sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy in the past....all went okay.

My problem is that after battling Cancer (30 mos. now since I had breast removed) and soooooooo many yrs. of Fibro and CFIDS........I just can not face anymore hurting. I am at the end of my rope. I have always been strong and a great patient. WAS. I have not been able to sleep last night from hurting....when they went to do Barium X-ray it hurt and I said I could not go through it. I could tolerate it if I was "out", I could cope with recovering from an operation........but some things I just can not do anymore........

Dr. says I have to be awake for it..........THANKS AGAIN......Bless You........Susan

But there is apparently a damaged part in my bowel and scope can not get only Barium, they say, will show what is wrong and if something needs done. They think I will have to have part of my bowel removed.

In records and tracing it back, I would say I've had this for 20 yrs. I've had polphs (sp?) removed twice and my records showed I had that problem then. BUT my husband nor I never remember being told this. They say I was advised to have a Barium X-ray both times......I am a little angry for I sure would not forget that. I could of don it then. But body just is at a breaking point on what I can endure. My first doctor is retired and I was advised by the specialist that took over the practice.....

It is hard to explain, I have never had a problem before in having tests and such....I am worn out from Fibro.................Thanks and Blessings...........Susan

I live in a smaller city, it does have its own hospital. On a whim I added my city on my google request.......I will remove the city, just to keep who I am more private....this is part of what I found!!!!!!!!!! :

Is a Virtual Colonoscopy Just as Good as the Real Thing? (city deleted)
Avoiding a colonoscopy because of its uncomfortable invasiveness? A high-tech procedure may eliminate a lot of this discomfort while still giving your doctor a good peek inside. Virtual colonoscopy combines a CT scan with computerized enhancement programs, and allows your doctor to take a tour of your colon, without the probes and sedation that are a part of a standard colonoscopy in (city deleted).
=================I am doing a happy dance! Hopefully I qualify for such.

You gave me a priceless gift.....I can not begin to Thank you enough.....Blessings.....Susan
