    Hi Kady,

I posted my ANA results. (Please see post)
Can you explain once again about the meanings?
    Does a DIF/Homog pattern mean it's SLE?
Sle runs in my family. My mother and her sister had it.
Also, my mom had Scleraderma too.
What is considered a normal range?
Is 1:80 borderline? And what does RA <10 mean?

    Thanks for helping,

    LOVE,
    HOUSEOFBLUES

A positive ANA result may occur in healthy people or it may be associated with a bunch of diseases. Yes, 1:80 is borderline for SLE if it is a homogeneous or smooth pattern. That's what mine is, too. A negative result is any number less than or equal to 1:40. A borderline is equal to 1:80 and a positive is greater than or equal to 1:160. The patterns can be homogeneous with high titers meaning SLE; Speckled suggesting SLE, MCTD, Scleroderma and Sjogrens; Nucleolar with high titers suggesting Scleroderma, Polymyositis/Scleroderma Overlap or Centromere pattern suggesting PSS with Crest syndrome variable.

Some doctors make no fuss at all over a borderline result, and then some do use it with other criteria in diagnosing autoimmune problems.( as in a family history like yours)
Is the RA in relation to the ANA or associated with a sed rate for Rheumatoid Arthritis? I'm not sure about this one....
hope this helps you a little bit!
    Love,
    Kady

    Thanks for answering...
Not sure what this "RA" is in relation to.
It just says: RA < 10 on the testing sheet for ANA....

My doctors keep telling me I don't have SLE even tho about
two yrs ago I developed a rash on my face and when they sent me to a dermatologist, the first thing she said when she saw me was "This is Discoid Lupus". But, she never put it in her report to my doctor. She just gave me some cortisone(?) cream and told me if it didn't go away in 6 mos. that she would do a biopsy.
Well, the cream helped it and all I have left is some "white scarring" where the "coin shapes" appeared on my chin and neck area.
I keep thinking everything points to Lupus beacause Two sisters from the same family got it, my tests are positive for "something", and I had a Discoid rash.
But, they say no, it's Fibro.....
    What's your opinion on this?

    Thanks,
    LOVE,
