    I need some assistance here...

I have been in remission some what for a little over 2 months. I have been feeling great, more energy etc,..until a car accident that I was in 3 weeks ago. My back end was totalled (hit me on the freeway going really fast) and my car was heavily damages. Thank God I wasnt stationary...I think it could have done alot more to me.

Anyway, I called my doctor because I started to have horrible headaches and the all over body pain again. He gave me vicoden (sp?) until I came to see him last Friday. I went in to him, same complaints, so he uped my Elavil to 75 (from 50) and gave me a script for Ultram. Yesturday I had to call in, the headaches were horrible and the Ultram wasnt touching it. So, he has now called in Immetrex and Darvocet. geesh!

So here I am, knowing my doctor is wonderful and caring but that he doesnt understand this DD at all (heck who does but us anyway!) and just keeps writting scripts out. Shouldnt there be something else I am doing to help myself? Tests etc? He wrote me a script for massage therapy 2 x a week but I cant afford it since I went to part time. Help!!

but maybe someone else can offer a suggestion. May be you need to see someone who specializes in spinal damage? I don't know.

    Hugs to you anyway.

My doc said I have wiplash and it should subside. He said that even someone without this DD will be sore after an accident like that, it will just take me longer.

I am just hoping Im not missing something.

Thanks though for your response :0)

it does not hurt to get another opinion,I love my doctor also but I work with two and they work with each other. One is a cfs/fms specialist and the other place is immunology. They have both been extremely invaluable and have both found many new discoverys. Are you able to do any exercises or stretching,I doubt it but just wondered if you could continue some stretches so your pain in your muscles does not get worse.Love, tracey

Yep, I can do stretches. The pain I have is far from immobilizing. It is a constant though, getting worse as the day goes. I need to get a gentle yoga going again...

I have alot of reading and research to do. I think I need to find a specialist in FM that my dr would recommend. I think at this point I need someone to dive in further, not stop at the px pad.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Princess,
After being in at least 6 non-chargeable traffic accidents over the past 15 years, I believe I can speak with a moderate degree of expertice. Gosh it makes me feel good to maybe be able to help someone! First, is the other vehicle insured? Liability insurance is mandatory in most states, but some jerks manage to slip through the loops. Once you know who the insurance carrier (Farmers', Allstate, etc.) is, call their claims department, which should be listed in the phone book. Tell them you were in a T/A with one of their insureds, and get a claim number. Armed with this information, go to your therapist. Most will bill the insurance directly so you can get the treatment you need with no out of pocket expense. Your doctor will do the same. Whatever you do, DO NOT SIGN ANT PAPERS FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will want a quick settlement to save themselves money. Once you sign you are S-O-L. Your pharmacist might or might not bill for you. If not, save all receipts. The higher your medical expenses, the higher your settlement will be. Your vehicle damage is a separate issue. Take your car to the shop you want to use & get an estimate. The isurance company is required to either fix it to YOUR satisfaction, or provide you with a replacement vehicle of equal value. They will use the low wholesale value for your car, unless it is some sort of special edition, in which case they will still try to do you. They are required to provide a rental vehicle for all time that yours is not driveable. You might want to contact a personal injury attorney. He will charge 1/3 of your final settlement after expenses (medical, vehicular, etc.). They can frequently get you more money for your claim so that your 2/3 is greater than 100% of what you would get on your own. Again, no money up front.
    Hope I have helped you,
    Kathryn

Actually, my doctor recommended that since he said I had whip lash from it.

I am getting my car repaired (after several threats to them, the insurance company, to do so) and they gave me a wonderful new car for a rental (will have a hard time getting into my old civic now!). I am okay on that end...but the health issues, that is different.

Thank you for your suggestion. I think I needed a push to make that call to them,...you just helped me. I think massage therapy will do me a world of good.

Thank you thank you thank you...and congrats on your 100th post
