I got a letter in the mail today from SSD ref to sending me to another DR (one of theirs) for a physical on Saturday at 2 pm. This DR is not even listed in the STATE BOARD OF DR in our state and I cannot find anyone that knows him. I am very concerned, the letter said they did not have enough Medical Info, also they sent me a letter to go to the local Hosptial on May 10 for X-rays with nothing showing of what type of X-rays. Has anyone else has anything like this???

    1. Cancel your appointment: you are too sick to go right now. Reschedule.

    2. Call the place taking x-rays: ask what type of x-rays..Cancel and reschedul it too

    3. Meanwhile, call Soc. Sec. and tell them about not fining the dr. listed in your state and also:

    4. Tell them you understand you can choose your own CFS/FM specialist who knows your history...is that correct? I think it is...then you can ask your own dr. to perform the SSDI exam.

    5. If this works, cancel the SS dr and x-rays and get them done where they have your history and input.

    Good luck, ok?
p.s. If its a psych. exam, and you have your own psych, tell SS that and ask for the SSDI exam to be performed there.

call them and tell them that you would like to have more information about this. then cancle the appointment till you can findout the information you need to feal comfortable.. if you have a spouce, friend, or family member ask them to go-with. this will give you support and a spare set of ears. that will help to make sure you do not miss something. also take a note padto take notes or maybe a small tape recorder. write down any questions that you have and take it with you.. hope this helps some..

I went through the same thing when I previously applied. Went to this Dr. in town; had NOT heard of him. He didn't really check me over much just asked me to bend over, etc. BUT...when I received my denial letter, the name of the physician was incorrect and I NOW know who the correct physician (the one I saw) is; A FRUITCAKE!!!! In my opinion. The sad part is that I ignored it at the time because I continued to work because I just didn't want to give up but have since re-applied. I would take the advice here and check it out! I still may ask about this and find out just what happened.

    Hope this helps,

    Take Care,

I called SSD this morning and found out he is a new DR and is a Resident, I decised to go and I explained all my concerns to the case worker! She ended up being somewhat helpful! I hope that this goes okay but I really do not understand the X-rays- I did find out they are going to do them of my HIP & BACK! But with FIBRO what can an X-ray really show??? If anyone has advice on how to handle the DR's appt on Sat Please advise! God Bless everyone!

I have heard people take their lawyers with to those appointments and also video or tape record the whole
    thing.

I have also read where you can ask for and get your own Dr.

If, when I have one I will drag the lawyer with. Let them earn their money.

    Be well

When my (now disabled) hubby was injured and on worker's comp, we went through this.

When you get sent for an "IME" (Independent Medical Eval), I truly believe you are purposely being sent to a panel of doctors who live in the Worker's Comp's pockets.

It was a very cursory exam, and the letter that arrived later stated "no significant impairment", which is really a crock (and now we have the years that happened after that, as proof).

So we petitioned to see a doc of our choosing. That was approved; however, before we got in to see the new doc, the CASE CLOSED letter came. We threatened to sue, and ended up settling for a sum of $. (not a lot - but we really couldn't afford to sue, it was a nightmare).

Now, that was a Worker's Comp case -- the Soc Sec stuff came later. But it all sounds very similar, so I wanted to add my 2 cents.

    Good luck!

Retired doctors often. We know one who is 87 and still being used for psychiatric evals for DD. On the plus side, he passes everyone!!!

Sorry about this. You could call and ask why this extra is needed. Never hurts to ask.

this is for dla so its slightly different but thought you might like to know.

he didnt know anything much about fibro only that it was 'strange' he just spent time chatting to me, he watched closely how i stood up/sat down and walked. he wasnt supposed to make it obvious but it was.

he asked me to lie down on my tiny two seater sofa (ha ha) and dug his thumb into the tender point at the base of your neck and said 'oh yes there is some discomfort' I YELLED!! i swear if he didnt let off i would have slapped him!!

BUT he was really nice and i got dla first time and the second time i applied i got it straight away but for a lesser time.

I got sent to one of their psychiatrists who was supposed to check the extent of my depression. Gotta tell you...he was worse off than I was. I would have approved benefits on the spot for him. He was nice but way way out there--further gone than me. Actually I would have considered inpatienting him the spot.

I just cried a lot because I was frustrated and upset because I'd been sent to this quack. At one point he cried with me. It wasn't even that emotionl. When the report came back it mentioned the crying and inability to concentrate. It turned out to be favorable. If you have to go manipulate the situation as much as you can. LuAnn

I called and questioned almost everything (I know they hate me) I went off about seeing a DOC that is not even STATE BOARD APPROVED he is a resident. But, my daughter that is a nurse said that might be good. They SSDI also told me the SSDI DR would have all of medical reports from my doctors. Maybe this will help! I am praying about it! I go tomorrow SATURDAY which is strange but I need to get this over with! I told the case worker with SSDI that I am sure they want to turn me down anyway so I am going to jump thru there hoops and see what happens! So I am ready I guess! I am hurting tonight and I have not taken my RX for pain! I am scared and feel a panic attack coming- Please keep my in all of your prayers! GOD BLESS everyone!
