I would stay away from sleep drugs if at all possible, too many potentially severe side effects. A quick search showed that Ambien can cause digestive problems, among many other things.

    Things that help me sleep
    5-htp (don't take with SSRIs)
l-theanine -helps the brain produce GABA, natural tranquilizer.
    hops - calming herb

I also take 0.5 mg. lorazepam in the middle of the night. I know it's a benzo, but hte dose is low, I don't take it during the day.

Also make sure you're taking enough magnesium and calcium, very important for sleep.

And maybe get your cortisol levels checked - if they are high, this can cause insomnia. A good test is the adrenal stress index test, a saliva test which measures cortisol levels throughout the day and evening, important to see how your levels fluctuate.

PH sells a product called FibroSleep which is supposed to be good -

    good luck -

I took Ambien for several years and it did not help. Did some research and now take Pro-Health's Fibro-Sleep. Its 100% all natural. Look into it.
