OMGOSH, I WOKE UP LOCKED UP AND COULDN'T WALK. I COULDN'T EVEN ROLL OVER IN BED! I MANAGED BY APPLYING MY WEIGHT TO TABLES, SINKS, STANDING CABNETTES, AND CHAIRS ETC. TO GET TO THE BATHROOM AND GET TO MY ULTRAM. I TOOK 3 AN HOUR AGO. I'M STILL CRYING AND CAN BARELY STAND. THE STRAIN IS SO BAD JUST TO MOVE. I'M WINSING AND WHALING IN PAIN. I TOOK A FLEXERIL TOO. I COULDN'T BARE TO GET INTO SHOWER IN FEAR OF FALLING.

THIS IS THE WORST PAIN SO FAR.

DO I GO TO HOSPITAL OR TAKE MORE ULTRAM. I DON'T THINK IT'S RIGHT TO TAKE MORE THAN PRESCRIBED WITHOUT DRS. PERMISSION. I TOOK 3 AT ONCE AS IT IS AND SHOULD ONLY HAVE TAKEN TWO.

MY BLENDED CASE MGR. IS ON CALL THIS WEEKEND AND I THINK I'LL CALL HER TO TAKE ME TO HOSPITAL.

I REALLY NEED A CANE RIGHT NOW AND AM LOOKING AROUND THE HOUSE FOR SOMETHING THAT RESEMBLES ONE, HA HA

CALLED MY MOTHER AND SHE WAS TOO BUSY BAKING A CAKE.

WHEN WE'RE CRYING AND THE PAIN IS A TEN DO WE GO TO HOSPITAL OR SUFFER IT OUT AND WAIT FOR TIME TO PASS? PLS. HELP QUICK.
    LOVE,
    PEACE

yes, safer to get checked out.

    may have a kidney stone

reason i say this, the meds we take can cover up another problem/ if pain is worse go ck it out

If I were you,I think I would at least go the the ER and see what is going on. It may not be anything other than something they can give a Demerol/Phenegran shot for, but at least it would help you with the pain. There is no reason that you should have to be hurting the way you are without relief. I have been where you are many times and learned a long time ago that the ER is the route to go if you can't get relief. They, at least, can get you on the right track and send you to the right source if it is something that can be fixed.

I agree please get a ride to the ER and have them check you out and make sure it's not something else.

Please keep us posted when you feel up to it.

    very gentle hugs, Susan

    Hi,

Absolutely get to hosp. Hope the E R staff doc will order up the Demerol/Phenergan shot recommended in another post! In case you haven't run into that combination before, the Phenergan keeps you from upchucking. Been there, done that.

Dumb question, but can you get to where your brooms/mops are? Turn one upside down and use it as walking stick if you can't find a better "cane." So what it looks odd? Might keep you from falling which, trust me please, you do not need. I've got the poorly healed femur to prove the point...

Sorry, I'm snarling about mother who was too busy making a cake to help you.

Please come back in when you can and let us know what dr(s) said is the problem?

    Lea.

THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME BEC. I HAVE CHRONIC PAIN. HAVEN'T YOU GOTTEN THAT ONE YET? ALSO THEY KNOW I HAVE PROTRUSIONS IN LOWER BACK, SO I'LL BE UP THERE FOR NOTHING. ISN'T THAT A SHAME SINCE WE HAVE PAIN EVERYDAY WE CAN'T GET HELP, BUT IF YOU HAVE PAIN ONE DAY YOU CAN. I'M JUST GOING TO GIVE TIME TIME, AND GET AN UPDATED MRI. I SEE ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON MON. OR MY PCP WILL ORDER.

I'M GOING TO A MTG. WHERE I'M THE SEC., I CAN WALK NOW BUT STILL SHAKING. MIGHT AS WELL GO ON. I WOULDN'T LEAVE HOUSE BUT WAS JUST MADE SEC. OF THIS GRP. AND IT'S MY FIRST TIME TO TAKE NOTES AND I DON'T WANT TO BE KICKED OFF FACING ANOTHER FAILURE. I'LL WRITE WHEN I GET BACK.

I understand the dilemma. I've been in such pain before I didn't know what to do. However I have never been to the ER. I have often just wanted to call my Dr. - then thought "what for". I already have pain medication to take.

HOWEVER, if you choose (chose) not to go to the ER, I would've called my Dr. and explained your level of pain. He/she might have given you permission to take x amount of your medication. Also then its documented your level of pain. It does depend on the relationship you have with your Dr.

Some people here saying taking Tylenol or ibuprofen with the ultram helps??? *pls check someone besides me!

Also take your pain meds right on time. If you're in that much pain, I'd keep it in your system. So whatever your doctor has written (every 4-6 hrs for example), I'd be taking it at 4 hrs. Same w/your muscle relaxer.

    Dear Pain,

So sorry to hear that you are feeling SO badly. I have not had quite that situation but I think I agree with the Janalynn.

However, if you are that bad or the extra meds did not work I would go to the ER. Glad someone will pick you up and be bringing you.. Hope she will be there to bring you home or do you have eto call when you are through? I think you said that she would be dropping you off. Wish you had some more support and someone to stay with you.

Good luck and please let us know how you are doing.

    Hugs and blessings,

I've had bad back pain like that plenty of times before.
Its horrible. Mine is due to herniated disks, / sciatica.
Do you have known/DX back problems?

when it gets that bad,.. I don't think its only due to Fibro. there almost must be something secondary,..as FM is mostly musclular pain. ( all over)

I think when you can't even stand up straight due to severe back pain,..its time to head out yonder to the drs. or ER. :)
hopefully they'll treat you well & with the respect you deserve.
(some ER experiences are good,..some not so good)
    best of luck~

    Thank you Ladies:

Thank you very much Donna, Mompain, Holly, Jeerie, Tandy, Granni and Jana. I am feeling better now. Thank you for suggesting I go to E.R. Without the support from all of you I probably would have given up and just suffered for a week. As it is they were able to get the pain under control and with the medrol dose pack it will help the inflammation. I have also heard from a Pain Specialist once you have a strong enough pain med. You don’t need a muscle relaxer on top of that because the pain med loosens the muscles. So with the percocettes (only 5mgs) it will loosen me up so this flare will be shorter.

I have an L4-L5 protrusion and two other discs above and below are somehow involved. I also have annular tear in same location. I was told at an earlier age someday I’d be in a wheelchair. The bones at L4 and L5 are so thin as well. I also get sciatica down left side of but and leg but not today.

I am using my swifter dust mop as a cane. Worked out really well because you can take a link out of the handle and it is at waist height. The flat bottom works like a three pronged cane. Getting up from the sitting position is hardest and it helps to pull my fat b#*t up, LOL.

I have not taken the percocette yet since I got the delaudid at noon and the tramodol around 1pm. I did take 3 4mg pills of medrol (prednisone; close to same thing right?) and 1 more 10mg flexeril. I won’t take the ultram or the ibuprophen right now. Or maybe I will take the ultram intermittently and see if the pain stays under control and when I need the percocette it will be there if I really need it. I only have 16 and will use strickly as needed. I won’t let pain sky-rocket as you’ve said, so I’ll keep some pain med, muscle relaxer and medrol in my system. I can’t sleep on medrol so can’t take it too late. If I don’t get all 6 pills in the first day I’ll be sure to taper down.

Thank God you were all here for me in an emergency. You all really helped me because I wouldn’t have gone. I didn’t think they would treat me. But they really took me seriously because I was CLEARLY in horrendous pain. After I had delaudid pain shot (about 40 minutes later) I needed up to go to bathroom. I didn’t know but dr. was watching nurse help me up and I winced and strained so much to sit and couldn’t move my legs he immediately said give her a tordal shot too.

They also checked me for kidney stones by urine sample, just to rule it out. But he figured and finally diagnosed me with muscle strain. Dr. also knew I had fibromyalgia. I’m still surprised they gave me a narcotic pain shot. But I made it clear it never hurt this bad before and was something new.

My best friend came up and made me lunch so I could take my meds, supplements and vitamins. She’s a real sweetheart. My blended case mgr. Picked me up, wheeled me to the car and dropped me off home while she got prescription filled.

Sorry so long, I LOVE YOU GALS, REALLY DO.

I’m going to lay down now. I’ll look in at msg. Board later on.
