How do you tell if the reaction you are having to a drug or supplement is a Herx or simply side effects from or reaction to the drug/supplement itself?

    Just curious about this!

First, a Herx only occurs when pathogens are dying off in very large numbers. If something one is taking is designed to kill pathogens, the ensuing feeling of having the flu, having diarrhea, and experiencing sweating is likely a Herx effect.

Many will experience a reaction when taking a new med or supplement and think it is a Herx when it is just a reaction in the body to the new med or supplement.

Keeping a journal often helps one to tell the difference. I always expect to Herx when I pulse my transfer factors, have to take an ABX or AV, or when I catch a virus. Other times, it's difficult for me to know whether I'm Herxing or whether I have caught something. My immune system has gotten so efficient that when I do catch a virus, my own immune system comes down on it like a hammer and I will Herx within a few days.

    Hope this helps.
