How did you manage to get in to see Dr. Armstrong? I have been on her waiting list for years! Please let me know what she says. Have you seen her before?

    Please let me know! Pepper

I have not been on the computer much lately due to family problems=stress=flare of CFS symptoms. I might be interested in a meeting this month too if CFS is also addressed. Do you know, Buzby?

Unfortunately I wasn't well enouugh to go to Dr. Armstrong's so I will go in late Feb instead. I also had to wait for years to get into see her. I was referred to her by Dr. John Molot, also an Environmental Health specialist. He ran out of ideas for treating me so he referred me on. I had quite given up on getting in to see her and put the whole thing out of my mind when they called me in for an information session and I have been seeing her for about a year or so.

She is convinced she can help me. She had CFS for about 5 years herself and is very positive about her treatments. She focuses on allergies and nutrition. I have to admit that I can't see any great improvement, but at least I am seeing someone with some news ideas. Every time I go she gives me hope and more supplements to take.

I have had CFS since 1995, off work since 96, so I try just about anything as long as the bulk of it is covered by OHIP!
As for the Ottawa group I enjoyed the trip out and meeting people to dicuss having an illness which is not easily treated. I got the impression that most of the people there were FM sufferers (which I am not.... thank GoD!) But fatigue is also a problem for alot of them. The day I went there happened to be one of the founding members (a nutritionist) giving a talk on nutrition which was very useful to me since it reinforced what Dr. A had been saying and gave me some more ideas. It was excellent to have access to a nutritionist too.

I think both CFS and FM can be fought in general with the same types of strategies and to that end the group will be useful. It also provides basic support, something I have always resisted since being sick. I will definately go again.
So give it a go if you can. It will be nice to meet anyway, perhaps we can seek out the other CFSers and help each other out.

Hang in there for Dr. A. Perhaps give them a call and get the lay of the land from them. Buzby

I will put calling Dr. A. on Mon.'s "To Do" list. I see Dr. C in Perth on a regular basis. He has helped a lot of people with CFS (some from as far away as Germany!)and in many ways has helped me too and I will not stop seeing him. However, I am very interested in her infra-red sauna which Dr. C recommends and I would like some different opinions.

I used to go to MESH meetings ever since I became ill in 1993. But they moved all the meetings to 7 p.m. The afternoons are much easier for me to go anywhere. It also seemed to be taken over by people with FM. The CFSers didn't have enough energy to do much so, even though it is supposed to be for ME, I found the focus of the meetings often didn't meet my needs. The last meeting I attended was based on the suggestion that Ballroom Dancing is great exercise for us. If I could dance I would have been doing it all along! No one with severe CFS could stay upright that long. Anyhow, I became discouraged with MESH. If this other group meets my needs, I would like to go. Meeting you would be fun too! If you find out about it, please let me know.

    Thank you! Pepper
