...that a bad day with CFIDS/FMS was like a day in the last three months of the life of an AIDS victim.

Having said that, this is not something you should dwell on or obsess about, but it is something that people around you need to understand about your illness. There is much you can do to help yourself - education and research - anything you can get your hands on or pull up on the internet.

While there is life, there is hope and while sometimes it seems this isn't much of a life - Hope still remains, if you have faith and love to lead you through.

With everything we experience there is a positive and a negative..

the cup can be half-full or it can be half-empty
the sky can be partly sunny or it can be partly cloudy

When we go to sleep at night, we can be afraid to have a nightmare. If that fear keeps us awake at night, then we will not have a nightmare. We will also miss out on precious sleep. In essence the fear has beat us on both ends.

The same goes with the fear of this DD. If we live in fear of it, then we allow it to conquer us. If we fear all day the next day will be painful, then we get stressed out and live in pain the following day regardless.

One thing that I have to say with my experience with this DD is your mental attitude can make it worse. I have good days and I have bad days. If I dwell on having bad days which I have been lately, the good days will never come.

Your journey with this DD is your own path.
Will your cup be half full or half empty?
    That is up to you.
Just be sure to come here and share whichever cup you decide you have, and we will be here to share ours too.

    Best of Luck,
    Sandy (FF)

When we ask how bad does it get, we are not living in the present. We are stressing and worrying over something that may or may not happen in the future. We miss the importance, beauty, and wonders around us, right here--right now. One day at a time---and enjoy that one to the best of your abilities, depending on the day.

You probably have read enough to know what some with the most severe symptoms go through. I think what you are really asking is how bad can this get for me. For that, there is no answer. There is no standard for these disorders....they vary.

Stay focused today--make each day count. Remember always what is "real". Those two sweeties, will be grown before you know it. I am now a proud grandma of 4---don't miss a precious moment with them dwelling on something that you have no control over, and that you have no way of knowing.

    Best wishes,

This is a wonderful place and the people here are so generous with info and support. The problem for newcomers is that they read about people in horrible pain and see that our illnesses can produce severe pain. This can be very scary, especially if you are already in pain.

Pain needs to be dealt with. I always suggest that if people are not getting adequate pain relief from their docs that they see pain specialists.

We are all different, and while some people get worse, there are some of us who are getting better through various treatments.

The best thing you can do is treat your worst symptom(s) first and learn all you can about your illness. Our library here is a good place to start.

    Love, Mikie

on how you look at it. I totally agree with memorylane. Edcuation and research. I've read until the pages blurr. Stress is a BIG factor and sadly, alot of doctors don't know what to do with us. Thank God that there are also some that do. This DD does take a toll on us and I'm sorry that we have to share this journey together, but that's the key word. You are not alone. This board is full of wonderful people. I've been a member for some time but don't post much. You're plea just seemed to jump out at me. I wish you the very best, and hope that you may find the right direction, but please know that there's alot of twists and turns along the way. I hope you find a good DR., or that you have already found one. Blessing to you and your's.

    Regards,

    Ellen

It's hard to imagine not getting better, just coping better. I'm just gonna take it one day at a time and pray for happiness.
