I've read, somewhere, that the pain can be from fibro...
I had endametriosis (sp?) about 15 yrs ago and finally had a total hystorectomy and they cleaned house in there. For about 2 yrs now I've had the cramping feeling like with periods and when the doc's. check me I just about fly off the table and cry cause it hurts sooooooo bad. They try to tell me that I'm just sensitive because of the scar tissue. I've had (finally) a female nurse pratitioner, about a yr. ago, check me and she said she felt someting out of the ordinary up there and sent me to have an ultrasound. The girl who did it kept looking puzzled and wouldn't answer questions when I asked what was wrong. My reg. doc said they found NOTHING wrong. So, I'm almost positive he was thinking that it was all in my head. I told him that I bet if I was his wife, sister, mother,etc.. that he'd do his damnest to have more tests done to find out what is wrong. I've told him I have the same pain up inside my rectom as I have up inside the vagina. He put in a requiest for a coloniscomy in "JUNE" cause the sygmoscopy couldn't be done because tooooo painful and couldn't go up farther than a couple inches. Sorry I'm just rambleing on but DOESN'T it sound like there's obviously something wrong?
I've told my family memebers that if I end up with cancer because of this damn "KAISER" I will sue the total shit out of them cause I've been trying for at least 2 yrs. to find out what's wrong. I know if I was a dr. and a patient told me that they are haveing the pains in those 2 places PLUS the blood inside of the stool which has mucus on it all the time, I'D DO ALL I COULD AND 'FAST' TO FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG AND GET IT FIXED "NOW".
I'm sure you will agree with this one. Can't have an intimate time anymore. So, I just gave up looking for a boyfriend! Figure I'm pretty pathetic and worthless with the above problems + the fricking Fibro.

If I were you and you have insurance go and get a second opinion right away. I don't know if you are being seen now by an OB-GYN specialist or not but you need to find a female one and go. It could be scar tissue BUT it can also be removed so that you are not in so much pain. As my Doctor told me I should not have pain with intercourse nor should you especially when you've had a hysterectomy already. My experience was I had a cyst on the ovary that they could see and I had a male Doctor who just shot me in the butt with pain meds and sent me home for the month. My primary Doctor{a female} found my file, and had her nurse call me. I was then sent straight to a FEMALE OB-GYN and in one week was in Emergency surgery that morning. Pain is not normal in that area she said. I ended up going through a lot more with the laproscopic surgery that daythen expected due to things not being detected by ultrasound. You can research this on the net. Ultrasounds do NOT show everything when it comes to female organs. I truly believe if you found a female Doctor she would send you through a laproscope which is little cuts so they can go in and see everything. I had a huge cyst on the outside of my ovary also and fibrosis had my intestines connected to my uterus! It was not seen on the ultrasound. You could very well have something of this matter going on yourself causing the pain and the bowel problems.
I wish you the best of luck and try to see a female Doctor okay.

I would definetly get a second opinion..You should not be having pain like that..Plus the fact with blood and muscous in the stool & he's waiting till JUNE for a colonoscopy, that's bull..One time I just had some bleeding due to hemmoroids, and because I have IBS, and my Dad died of colon cancer, I had a colonoscopy within a matter of two weeks..That was from the time I left my PCP office, until I got to see surgeon, and then went for the testing..And if you're having pain and the blood and all, you should be seen sooner..And like Joannie said, scar tissue can be taken care of, so you don't have pain like that, if that is all it is..PLEASE, PLEASE, go for a second opinion, don't let Dr. push you around like that..
Here's hoping everything works out for you..

Duh!! In the 3 to 4 yrs. (can't remember) I've never seen a ob/gyn doc. When I go to my Internal Med. dr. on the 29th of this month, I'm gonna tell him to refer me to a FEMALE OB/GYN! And I'm gonna tell him, "no ifs ands or buts! I was half asleep last nite when I wrote and forgot to mention that when I cough or sneeze it all hurts down there! Feels like everything is all twisted up and all wrapped around each other. (what ever is down there) It, most of the time, makes me bend over when I cough or sneeze.
I guess I just "figured" that the doc should know what to do and how to handle medical problems. BUT, GUESS NOT!!!!
Like everyone has been saying, I have to take 100 percent control of my body and demand to see whoever it is that I need to see to get my body fixed. I'm just too damn young (48) to not be able to enjoy relations.
Well, thanks for answering and steering me in the right direction. I'll let you all know what happens.
But, with KAISER, I'm sure it'll take quite a while, as usual like with the coloniscopy which has, so far, taken 4 months and still has no schedule for one yet.
    Thanks again, Betty

I know exactly what you are going through, in fact the Hubby was just reading your post over my shoulder and said that sounds like you. DUH! lol

Anyway it took me years and lot of Doctors and nasty test to discover that what I have is , Pelvic inflammatory disease, and also, Vulvodynia, there are 4 different kinds, you might want to do a search on the following,
    1. vulvar dermatoses
    2. cyclic vulvovagnitis
    3. vulvar vestibulitis syndrome
    4. dysesthetic vulvodynia

I would like to beable to give you a website addy, but you know the rules, I can't type them, but if you try,
wdxcyber with a dot com and then m2vulva that might get you there. Last time I was at that site was 6/24/01, hope it's still there, great amount of infor there.

I use to have a discharge with blood in it and most Dr.s just gave me Estrogen and Estrogen cremes, nothing helped.

I don't have that now, but unfortunatly I now have Herpes, and I'm in a flare from that right now, and talk about HURTING, 2 more days and it'll be gone. For at least 6 months, can't take the Med for it, darn.

    Sincerely,
    kredca4

ps, you moving to Lancaster? Boy has that place grown, I use to go up there to ride my Dirt Bike, and boy is it Hot there.

    Hi Betty,

I USED to have what sounds like very similar pain. Since I had a hysterectomy (total) years ago, I (correctly)assumed it was my bladder causing the probs.

I too have kaiser, and there was to be a several month gap between seeing my FP, his referral, and seeing the urologist. So I waited 1-2 days, then called patient relations. I told them in no uncertain terms, that I was in intense pain & could not, WOULD not, wait that long for an appointment, I needed help NOW! Well, their office called back about an hour later to let me know they'd contacted the doc and explained. A few minuted later, urology called, and I was in the NEXT DAY! and, peacefully medicated shortly thereafter.

Sometimes, you have to get a bit tough with kaiser and (not so gently) remind them that they work for YOU!

Another tactic, especially since you feel it is gyn related, call directly to ob-gyn, and run the same 'need it NOW!' scenario. I didn't know you were supposed to have a GP's referral. From day 1 with kaiser, 30 years ago, I've always just called ob-gyn directly for appointments. uhhhhh, oooooops! well, no one has complained yet. I guess I just kinda play my own game with them, and never really even thought about what their agenda might be! HA! guess I've ALWAYS traveled in my own little fibro bubble. so far so good....

hope this works out, SOON, for you!

with the same exact symptoms. I went ahead and did the hysterectomy, for other reasons as well, and to make a long story short, it did help a bit, but some of the syptoms are still there strong as ever.
The painful rectum thing really gets me? Can't figure that one out then my OB/Gyn tells me I have bowel adhesions that could be causing that. So what can you do about I wonder? She didn't mention that question/answer.
Have always had extremely bad cramping like I am going to start my period but it was not time, or I'd be on my period for 6-8 weeks then get a 1-2 week break and right back to bleeding. Well at least that bleeding part is gone since the hysterctomy. Unfortunately, the pain is still a problem. Now I am becoming the high maintenence patient. I hate to call the doctor every two weeks it still hurts nothing is helping, what can I do. she is very patient with me, but I feel she is getting a bit frustrated and doesn't know what to do with me.
I am beginnning to believe this is just a part of the FMS along with all the other pains to deal with add another!!
Good luck and let me know if you get any help or answers!

I am definately gonna call Kaiser Member Services in morn. and give them "Hell". They do say, in the damn commercials on tv, that they are there to help and solve problems and are very understanding. (Ha! Bull, in my opinion) but I'm just gonna get tough and they are not gonna screw around with my body anylonger! Thanks again.... I will definately let you all know what happens. Just wish me luck....

yes, all these problems can be treated and you owe it to yourself and some lucky potential mate to do all you can to alleviate these symptoms. This is NOT normal and you need a good OB/GYN/Gastroenterologist to eval and treat. Are you like me and attribute EVERYTHING to THIS DD? We can lose a lot of quality of life by assuming that it's all chronic and unfixable. Be smart and take care!

That problem, I think, doesnt come from the fibro. I just figured that possible it's the scar tissue since I've been open up "3" times in the same spot. Bikini line. My stomach is pouched above it. Just don't understand why I have the same pain up the vag. and up high in the rectum! It's like it's all connected in some way or other. Hell, just guessing. But, I am gonna get help one way or another.
I pay Kaiser over 200.00 a month and they need to stand up to their promises and their "mission statements". PERIOD.
Ill let you know what comes of my bitching session with them.
Love and soft/gentle hug to you, Betty

above my bikini cut and that area is STILL numb and the surgery was three years ago to remove my ovaries. I'd had a vag. hyst. when I was 21 and when my ovaries were removed a while back, there was lots and lots of adhesions and scar tissue causing pain...Better now.
    Love to you,

and I had first, uterus out, then a year later had the overies out. The doc on the first one didn't want to remove all and put me thru the change of life. Well, they found bad..... case of endomit.. and a year later had to end up taking everything anyway. I was reall piss when I awoke from the first surgery and the doc said he consulted with 2 other surgens and they all felt that it was in my best interest to leave the overies. Lotta good that did.
About 5 yrs. previos to the 1st surgery was the first time I was opened up for them to do exploratory surgery to try to find out why in extreme pain all the time.
Well they can't say they didn't make money off of me! haha
