Did the deep freeze come to your area? Mon. night it got down to 22!!~! My lilacs blossoms froze, as did the 2 flowering crab apple trees, the daffodils and I don't know what else as yet!

I have asked around as to what happens now to those shrubs. The leaves are about killed and are really drooping. Anyone a gardener that knows? Or do we just wait and see what happens?

I hope what is left of Spring hurries up ~~~~~~there is no sign of it yet.

    Gentle hugs,

You will lose all of the flower buds and any leaves that had opened. (actually, any leaf buds that had come out of dormancy). Let the new growth resprout from the branches. This could take several weeks depending upon the weather. THAT will tell you if you have die back on the branches. You can prune accordingly after they releaf out.

Even if the entire top of some bushes are dead, I wouldn't get antsy about digging them out. New growth will probably sprout from the bottom. Sorry about your lilacs. They should bloom next year for you.
