I will be hearing the news any day now. I searched the SSDI blue book last night and 4 or 5 of my conditions are listed. I applied after being away from work for about 1 1/2 years. My case is not work related and my doctor wrote a strongly supportive letter.

Any comments?? I would love to hear from anyone and especially those who were approved with the first application. Prayers are always welcome. I really need this financial support right now in my life.

    Thanks all,

after being off work around 1-1/2 years. I had to take early retirement due to my health. I, too, needed the financial help that the disability would bring as my pension was not much, even after working 30 years.

My disability included so much more than the fibro, though.

I am thankful it was approved on the first try as I would hate to have had to fool with a lawyer, etc

I recently came up for my first review and received a letter yesterday that is OK and will continue on for another 3-4 years.

    Good luck on receiving yours.

I don't have Fibro, but I have Lupus SLE & Scleroderma, and I often hear that Lupus and FMS run hand in hand, so, I constantly 'lurk' for knowledge, education, etc......
Well for me, I received it the first try, I had the severe Lupus SLE, at that point Scleroderma symptoms, (gross) chronic diarrhea, (nothing would help), I was in a wheel chair, but I had an excellent GP, it was my GP that initiated it and then they came back and requested more info. so all the doctors from WA sent letters, (dr.s that I seen, hehe), it took a few months, but I knew before they told me I was approved, I also applied for IHSS over here in Ca. an agency that sends someone into your home to cook and clean for you, and they called me to make an appointment, they said they had the list of "not being approved" and I wasn't on that list, so they were proceeding! I was lucky, God is good.

All of you who have CFS, FMS and any other condition, I recommend to look for a physician specialized in BIOENERGETIC MEDICINE. It consist basically of electroacupuncture therapies. It has helped me A LOOOOOTT!!!

I was 58 and I think age does make a difference. Neither fibro or cfs were mentioned. Symptoms were. I was in frequent contact with the woman who did my case and she told me it was not any one thing but the long list of so many things that went into the decision. She also told me she could tell the whiner fakers right away so you attitude could play a part. I told her I would go to any dr. she wanted to send me to cuz perhaps one of them just might have a clue as to how to fix me. I treated her like a friend not an adversary.
I never wanted ssd and still want to give it up and go to work and be in the real world but for the moment I am greatful to have the small check every month.

It is difficult to wait. I will be 43 next month and believe me, I would have never dreamed I would be applying for SSDI. I'm not sure I even knew it existed.

It seems like the first time approvals had several medical things going on. I have a lot going on and some that has not been dx yet due to multiple need for blood testing to monitor my positive ANA. Most of my doctors were/are spine specialists. My family doc has all of my records and she sent them off with a letter the same day they requested documentation. She is amazing. Anyway, thank you all again.

    I will post my results...Jan

I was approved on my first try with no lawyer. I was not working for almost 2 years when I applied. I had not yet been dx'd with CFS or FM but was approved on Depression and severe panic attacks...I was 37 when I was approved.

I hope you get some good news soon.
