Yes, indeed, I have had such bad chest pains that I went through a cardiac catheterization to ensure that I do not have a blockage (I don't). After that miserable experience, I read something that said FMS can mimic heart problems because of myofacial pain inside the chest -- which describes what I am feeling perfectly.

If you are having chest pains, don't just rack it up to FMS, though. Get yourself to a cardiac specialist. Just because you have FMS doesn't mean you can't have heart disease! Better safe than sorry.....

just as a suggestion, try another pain killer without anything related to codeine in it. I've had horribel reactions to codeine related drugs one which was chest pain, palpitations, anxiety and yes, I thought it was a heart attack but all checked out fine. Other drugs that gave me chest pain were Darvacet, Percocet & Tylenol3, all related to codeine.

However, FM is known to cause chest pain so it may not be meds but always good to start there.

I'm sorry you are feeling so bad and hope you find relief soon!

    Hi Sheri,

I had ibs badly, taken lots of meds, nothing worked. But now it is completely under control since I started taking Paxil every morning and a low dose of Elavil at bedtime. These are the only two prescriptions I take. I have also found that taking

Also, i had heart related tests done too. But it turns out that there is an inflammatory condition of the breastbone, where it attaches to the ribs, i can't remember the "corrent" name, starts with a "c". Lifting, and especially carrying around babies/children can trigger this (along with other triggers).

    Hi Sheri,

I had ibs badly, taken lots of meds, nothing worked. But now it is completely under control since I started taking Paxil every morning and a low dose of Elavil at bedtime. These are the only two prescriptions I take. I have also found that taking 1,000 mg. of MSM morning and night has helped tremendously. And I rub MSM gel right on the "bad" places.

Also, i had heart related tests done too. But it turns out that there is an inflammatory condition of the breastbone, where it attaches to the ribs, i can't remember the "corrent" name, starts with a "c". Lifting, and especially carrying around babies/children can trigger this (along with other triggers).

    hope this helps

let us hear how your hearing goes; i have not done this yet
    all the best,

    Sheri,
I have had that and was told that it was costachronditis, sp? But what I found out after many meds and even a shot right between the ribs of cortizone. Nothing helped. UNTIL .....My old Dr., who is no longer in practice, but happened to be filling in for my new Dr. told me I had ribs out place. He maniptulated me and put my ribs back in place!! Instant relief!! Hope it helps you. Let me know if you need anymore info than this.

I have chest pains quite often. Many times its when I wake up. The feel like sharp shooting pains and when I try to breathe or move it gets worse. I just hold my breath until it passses. My uhsband tried to get me to go to the ER but they pass so quickly that by the time I got there it'd be over and probably pointless.

My 16 year old daughter was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about 2 1/2 years ago. She frequently complains of chest pain, mid sternum, and is always frightened that something is wrong with her heart. In the book "Inside Fibromyalgia" by Mark J. Pellegrino, he acknoledges the presence of chest pain in this disease and explains why it happens.

Listen, I am not even the Fibro. victim here, and I am exhausted by this. I know you must be. The book I mentioned is very good; if you don't have it you might look at it at your local bookstore. We found it at Barnes and Noble.

    blessings!

Yes, I have this pain between my breast and sometimes even my breasts hurt. This is one of FM's symptoms. Good luck with your Disability. It's been a year and a half since I first applied.
