Subject: I Hold Onto Him "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, 'The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him'." (Lamentations 3:22-24 NIV) When my way is dark, I will trust in the LORD's compassion. When my body cries out in pain, I will turn to the Lord's faithfulness. When the fatigue is overwhelming, I will lean on the Lord. When good health seems beyond my grasp, I will count the LORD God as my portion. When it feels that I've been in this state "forever," I will wait for the Lord. I will hope in the LORD. No matter what we face day-to-day, God's Word is true and we can "hang our body on His Word," as Pastor Kenny Foreman says. Sometimes we really feel the hanging part. We need to focus to realize the "on His Word" part. We need to meditate on the comforting verses that the Lord makes so real to us and hold onto them. Maybe Psalm 23 is your favorite or maybe you are especially encouraged when you remember that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. (Philippians 4:13) Or perhaps our verses today about the LORD's mercies being new every morning lift your spirits. Even when we feel our grasp is weak, we need to hold onto the Lord. To hear His Word--whether we read it ourselves or have someone read it to us or listen to it on tape or on the radio--is a tremendous way to hold Him close. May His Word be your comfort and bring His Presence close to you today. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Erica Faraone lives with her husband, Scott, in Whitefish, MT.
